Death of the internet [SOLVED]
SOLUTION: Disabling crossplay has not happened to me again

Something very strange is happening to me, I am connected by cable (RJ45) and when playing with Diablo 4 I am suffering what we could call "internet death"

The problem is that, completely randomly, the internet stops working, but I say EVERYTHING, nothing works, after about 2 or 3 minutes the internet returns as if nothing had happened.

During this period of death the other devices connected to the internet work perfectly.

I have tried not playing Diablo 4 for several days and it has not happened, I have played Diablo 4 again and it has happened again, it only happens when I am playing the game, that is, it does not happen if I play and then quit his

So I'm a little lost and worried about this issue, is there a security flaw that could break the internet?

I guess that you are playing on notebook then your termal interface need some love. Because when you are playing Diablo 4 CPU and GPU temperatures are so high that this affects your WIFI module and it stop working when it's hot.

You just gave me flashbacks to 2008 and playing EvE online until my laptop shut down from temp overload

Also laptop antennae drivers be buggin sometimes. You have to uninstall and reinstall it to fix

You must be running at a very low FPS then. D4 has the most advanced engine ever conceived. It will be decades before a system can run this game at 240 FPS with ray tracing. I currently have to use dry ice cooling just to get my system running the game at 4k with ray tracing at 120 fps. My last system only had fan cooling and it ended up catching fire. Just goes to show how ahead of their times the programmers are at Blizzard.

I get a solid 120fps with the odd drop down to 100

I had similar problems with Diablo 3. That was few years after i cameback to the game just to learn it was still waste of time so i didnt feel bad but it was weird how it would knock out my entire internet connection for few mins and only then i was playing it.

Not everyone has a $4000 system.

Neither do I, it was like £1200 on a sale. Even it’s full price was only £1799.

I have removed crossplay and so far it has not happened to me again, maybe one of the things they indicated in the link I posted will solve the problem

Crossplay has caused some issues with some players.

But, you should not be "losing the whole internetz" when this happens while playing D4. It should also not be the case that D4 is "blowing your stacks," making it impossible for your OS to use/assign ports correctly - The actualy connection should not do anything differently no matter if you have Crossplay enabled or not.

Ask your ISP. Try to replicate the problem, note the time, give their Tech Support a call and have them take a look to see if the problem is on their end or it exists on the other side of the modem.

And, that's a thing to check, too, but that connection should not be doing anything weird no matter what you've selected for the game to do. (ie: "Crossplay" should be handled entirely on the backend. Though, I haven't bothered checking to see if anything different is going on since I assume the problems that can be caused are due to Diablo 4 hanging/chugging looking for crossplay I/O.)

Found this thread looking for info cus I'm having the same issue. I'll try changing crossplay.

EDIT: It's already off.

What Ethernet is it? Realtek? I ran into a similar issue but on my desktop, and it was only when I played Diablo 4, The only thing I did was I bought a TP Link usb hub that has Ethernet and its been working fine since.

This happens to me on occasion when I'm idle in the game, reading, looking through my inventory, etc. I really think there is an idle timeout built into the game. When I'm actively doing stuff in the game it never happens.

I have had crossplay disabled, on or off did not matter.
