Help please
I just started the game, finished the prologue, clicked on some quest, and suddenly got level 50, with all the altars already explored—WTF? Is there any way to roll this back, and what should I do? When I create a new characters, they have 1 million gold!

Sadly there is no way to roll some of the unlocks back. The map will stay explored, the altars will stay discovered and their bonuses applied. Even if you start on the season realm these carry over, the rest will not.
The gold is shared, spend it on one character and it's gone, I hope.

I did this too right now. Suddenly my character became level 50. I don't need it. This is my first time playing the game. Why should I miss the game? What's the point? It is clear that this is probably convenient for replaying for hardcore players. Because of this, I now have to go through the introduction again. Just stupidity. What idiot came up with this.

Same issue here. Picked up the game today along with a copy for my two kids. Both starting the game fresh, wanting to play through the campaign together. We work through the intro quest, walk into town and as this was highlighted in the quest journal clicked on the reward thinking it was going to be a piece of kit appropriate to our level. Now I've out-levelled my kids characters, missed out on exploring the map, got loads of gold.... had to start a new character and go all through the intro again and the map is still explored. While this option might be great for players looking to skip some of the early content and get a boost, I wanted to play through it. There should have been a prompt confirming what would happen when you accept the reward. This really soured our initial experience with the game.

Don't worry about the million gold, once you start crafting high tier gems you'll find you need 10,000,000 gold to craft just one gem (which I think is ridiculously high for casual players), but yeah I don't know of a way to reset it. I did it couple days ago and created a necromancer which I hated using in the past but that instant boost and I found playing a necro in upper levels can be quite fun, just never had the patience to play it long enough to find out if it was going to be fun at later levels, turned out it is for me.

So you skipped out on reading that there is lvl 50 boost reward for people in eternal realm.
And then proceeded on accepting the reward.

I don't see any problems with the game here.

Yeah, the "Welcome Back" Boost can be obtained by newcomers. There's clearly nothing wrong with the game.

Also, the game tells you to check out those purple marks because that’s how you learn the game mechanics, and the "Welcome Back" Boost is actually one of those purple marks.
