About this new class Spiritborn
It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible. I mean Horrible.

Yep you have actually pretty good core idea of class. The basic idea resembles me off Apocalypto style mayan warrior. Which could be actually very cool and fit truly very well on diablo style lore.

But here are negatives that kills it for me:

THOSE FREAKING SPIRITS. Specially that GORILLA. WTF you have freaking class and lore that is based on south america and then you add GORILLA FREAKING GORILLA. GORILLAS FROM AFRICA at lore that is basically 100% based on south american continent rather than AFRICA.

Is this some freaking Woke check box again?!?!?!?!?!

Not to mention that gorilla model that is obviously ripped out of from OVERWATCH. Another failed blizzard woke title. I mean WTF BLIZZARD

And i didn't even mention the others like centipede?!?!?!?.

Only that i accepted was that jaguar.

Ill put it simple. If you make character based on maya mythology use proper spirit animals like: Jaguar, eagle,Snake or deer

If you wanna make character based on DE-I Africa use those gorillas, lions hyenas, zebras what ever and make all characters black just to be safe that you check every possible DE-I checkbox.

Thank you

Also find your answer so you can calm down :
While it’s difficult to definitively label someone as “woke” without direct statements or explicit activism, Eleni Rivera-Colon’s body of work and public persona convey a sensitivity to representation, identity, and authenticity. Her focus on writing authentic, female-driven stories and her engagement with the industry suggest a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in her work.

I think this is more of a problem for you than for us.

The woke gorillas are waiting for their turn...watch and suffer.

The guy asked question... I'm answering! Do you have a problem with my answer and provided information , keyboard ninja? Your message sounds more like your soul wants to betray you for having two brain cells at best!
I know this may be sad for you but at this point everything about Diablo 4 is laughable ... so no! I won't suffer and your wish won't be granted

Holy racist batman
While I think the Spiritborn is over-designed and clashes with the minimalist concept of the other classes, I DO think it looks fun to play and will probably buy VoH if Season 5 continues S4's successes. I'm particularly excited to try the attrition build with the Centipede.

Are you saying all that means that the writing for Diablo 4 is good?

Acclaimed writers, even the ones that people know and read about, can write badly. They may not be likely to, but they can. And, writing for gaming is a different animal than a book or script.

Judge a work based on the quality of the work, not by how many awards someone has received for other works.

That being said, not centering the view on the protagonist, who should always be the player, even if that's somewhat obscured, was a bad "gaming" move. I don't care about how a "story" or "movie script" would read, I care about a game's design and narrative elements that drive gameplay.

Two of the most pivotal characters in Diablo history, as well as in this game's story, are unceremoniously killed "off-stage." One of them doesn't even get a cut-scene...

"Yeah, well, that was great. Do I get to play, now?"

That tells me either someone dropped the ball, badly, or the story was dramatically changed and rendering new elements just couldn't be done before release.

And, since a metric crapton of the game's unique campaign play are "reskins" of standard game mechanics, that tells me "low effort" or... rushed.

"Oh, look, here's Hell. OK, let's go! Oh, yeah, that's some Duriel dude, don't mind him..."

Another key character in the lore and the most despised boss-encounter in Diablo II and... he's a sideline extra bit of fluff in Hell?

"And, there's some big dragon thing... I think it's name is uh, wait a sec... Oh, yeah, "Ashava." No, I don't know anything about it. Him. Her. Uh, them. Just go kill them and be done with it, we have to progress the story."

A world-boss. They get put into the end-game run as filler, too? Who the heck are these other world bosses, anyway?

These are all big deal "game" opportunities to fuel the narrative behind the gameplay experience. And, they're minor bits of fluff that ignore the player's perspective and their needs to be engaged by the "story" of the campaign.

If she wrote this like a script or even if she wrote all this to be part of some great narrative experience the player was intended to actually "engage" with as a gaming consumer... it got murdered in post.

Note: I am encouraged by the changes in Season 4 and enjoyed my experience with it. But, that does not turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. I am not encouraged by the story elements I have seen leading into the DLC, but will reserve judgement until I play it. I am mostly encouraged and look forward to what content and mechanics changes they will be making, though.

Yes. Having to ask the question seems silly. It's 2024, it's always about the message.

For me is bad.....I don't like juniors being full part of DLC. She is mid.
I didn't gave my opinion for a reason.... Everyone can have different opinion, If they like it... well let them like it. What you play and what you like speaks for you.

Niliu, dont make a fool of yourself. OP had Problems with some animals from africa in a fantasy-rainforest, and used the w-Word to explain his outrage. Do you remember?
And well, some remarkable reactons followed. Can be ignored, or answered satirically using his own vocabulary. But text comprehension to detect satire is not necessarily to be expected here.

But. Can you perhaps explain your surely spontaneous reaction? But use your words wisely. That interests me now .
