There is small niche loud hardcore crowd mentally stuck 20 years ago who hates everything modern so they complain but that is all what they can do, D4 will continue to be the best and most attractive Arpg on market.
There are games like Path of Exile Free to play or Last Epoch which has lower price that is probably the main reason D4 is not that popular on steam, not to mention that recently blizzard is being hated for some reasons🙄 what they did to overwatch and then that disgusting incident about employee
Blizzard does not make new games these days, they just add +1 or a Remake word to whatever was made before increase the graphic and then expect to sell it for 69$ while so many new companies start with new ideas and unique games.
since you asked i thought i tell you.
It does have good aspects (the graphics, the level design, the speakers in the german dubbing do a very good job, it's almost TVseries or cinema quality). I think a very good job was done here.
But you can't really go into depth because it doesn't have any particular depth. The campaign is OK for an ARPG, but the actual marching through Nightmare Dungeons as a bridge to level 100 is really not a highlight. But also not a disaster. And the pit. Well. Since I've already come this far.
It's still not a deep ocean you can expect for 70 EUR / Dollar, just a shallow, although quite nice looking pond. The saturation value can be reached faster than Blizzard perhaps wanted.
I paid 35 euros for it in February, and that's totally fine. Will I buy the addon? Probably not for now.
Probably sunk cost fallacy forces the new DLC buy.
We will see. I rather tend to look at the free time I have invested. So far everything is fine. But a break is also nice.
And who knows? Maybe one or two Diablo-DLC come out every year. Do you buy them all? is this then still leisure or work? Blizzard always cleverly gives you the feeling that you should invest more and more time...is it worth it? Everyone has to decide for themselves.
Some people paid their 70 dollars for UNFINISHED story. If they don't finish the story for Diablo 4 in the expansion will be kinda funny : )) I bet they won't
I decided that sharing everything matters more than having the latest hype piece and just play everything on Eternal. I actually kinda admire Diablo 4 for letting me turn the FOMO stuff off; very few "live service" games grant me that choice.
Jokes aside, first season was mediocre (game was somewhat slow and grindy) and then the game improved significantly in S2 and continue to improve with each season. Today's gameplay is quite different from what was a year ago (more dynamic) and progression is much faster.
Why people still complain today - it is beyond me. Especially funny are the "omg, all the costumes cost $3000" clowns who apparently use games for shopping instead of entertainment.
