He obviously had a SIGNIFICANTLY larger health pool and attack power. The adds he spawnd were higher level as well.
I learned the more you get hit by his attacks, the more damage you take from him through the course of the fight. Each hit seemed to generate a stack of this debuff. Someone feel free to correct me or elaborate on this.
It was not particularly hard but I did have to be more fluid in my gameplay and actually dodge attacks, not face tank it etc. Obviously all this is build dependent but just my two cents and experience. Hope this helps.
Thanks though, i'll give it some more thought, i think before giving it a shot as probably easier to level up another class instead than fight one of these..
Duriel and the others while challenging were much more forgiving. If you wanted to try one to see where you stand I would recommend Gregior, Varshan, or even Zuir. Those seemed to be the easiest of the tormented bosses.
Remember you only get 1 shard for your first tormented boss kill not for each one (save for Lillith). Good luck!
