Diablo 4 crash error (Fenris)

My game keeps crashing, sometimes within the hour of playing and sometimes I can play for hours without any crashes then all of a sudden it crashes again. I have no words how after season 2 this error was coming back all the time, I had 300+ hours before this without crashes, if anyone knows a fix for this I thank god that you come across my post!

I have have tried;

installed on C drive
reinstalled
verified files
changed to disable chroma effecs in settings file to 1
disabled focus assist
unplugged controllers/unused devices
disabled crossplay

I had this same issue yesterday. Crashed 3 times with the Fenris error within 10 minutes of playing. Never encountered this error before in 20 hours on Steam.

look for the exception stack trace in the fenris log file, and post it here if you need some help

While they sure will do look into issues with the servers, but when it is crashing for you all the time, while others (me included) are playing fine, then maybe it is your pc that is broken?

rtx 4080 i9 13k 32gb ram hardly the problem

You know, raw hardware speccs are hardly a measure, as the whole hardware combination, system setup, driver state, background software, literally anything specific to your system, so infinite reasons ON YOUR SIDE, can be the issue?
And the fact that it is happening to you (and a handfull of other people that share the issue), the majority of people is playing fine, so it can hardly be a general problem with the game, but only a problem that occurs under specific conditions, and your system actually qualifies for those conditions in some way.

While it still could be a fault of the game that produces the issue, it is far more likely that the reason lies somewhere on your side. And no, that does not mean it is ultimately your fault, like it does not have to be outdated drivers (completely your fault), but it could be that some manufactor screwed up his driver, or some screwed up compability with some other, or some part of your software structure screwed up some interaction with some other part, again, infinite possibilities.

The only time you can safely blame the game for it if it is happening to everyone (or at least to a significant majority).

It wasn't like this before in season 1 and 2 though, I didn't make any hardware changes, BIOS changes, or anything that I would think could have interfeared or bricked my pc, one day it was just there. I don't know I will keep looking into it, thanks.

So after some digging, I found this error message in my files (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)

The DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED is a DirectX relating to your graphic card. It occurs when the graphic card loses contact with your computer. There can be plenty of reasons for this error. When a computer is overclocking, the graphic card heats up but my GPU only rarely hits 80c and the GPU nor my CPU are overclocked and it's pretty common for my gpu to run a little hotter. I was suggested this fix, and I will keep you guys posted if this works:

Glad you found some additional information, and hope you can fix your issue, but just on a sidenote, any issues relating to overheating are for 98% related to insufficient cooling (for the chosen settings/"background clocking") and that is completely not the games fault, but either related to the specific card/drivers in use, or a general problem with your systems cooling (at high loads).

Simple of things is revert every graphic setting to default then work your way upwards, also if your mobo is 790 a bios update was released for most brands that reduced the voltage usage on i9 cpus that was causing a multitude of issues on people. Keep in mind that bios patch also has the side effect of reducing performance, so patch it at your discretion.

Other wise take out the gpu and put it again and make sure its well socketed, then check that the power cable are properly set as well and check the power cable in case they have a damaged power pin.
Am close to 100 hours on diablo with no crashes even on full frenzy farming helltide maidens, 2K everything max.
Am really glad how well optimized the game is.

I am using a 40 L gaming omen
I am extremely familiar with fixing my own stuff since the k62 Plus Computers so I've been doing this a long time

Lately this error has been hitting me quite hard at random no matter what graphic setting I try to just extend some game time it actually ran the best on Ultra believe it or not which is ridiculous you would think throwing it on performance instead of quality it would be worse no that was not the case and just as freaking confusing

It's the damn game nothing else I shouldn't have to change any registry settings on this monster rig that's fully updated and tweaked I can run all these other games and no problem it's only Diablo that gives me this headache I can run around and Hell divers to all day long it has just as much of crazy spawn rates and higher Demand on my system than Diablo ever would

They need to fix this s***. That is all there is to it and until they do I will go play other games and maybe play this again chances are Slim this only deters me more from even wanting to reload this again

I still have this error. I play for 20 mins and the game dies. Is there any solution at the moment until a patch?

I'm having the same problems as described above. 10-20min playable sometimes less. I tried a lot and nothing really solved the issue

If your using Windows, I blame reg keys. They break. ALL THE DAMN TIME. it's annoying having to go get refresh for keys like every 2 months but i do find more often then no with things, its a key thats broken or a value thats been changed
