What's with the Hate ? Game seems dope :)
Hey,

it's been pretty awesome playing this to be honest ( para 52 currently and the whole design seems very legit )

i really got my fun outta d2 res and played that game so so much but F that and let's play this.

is just: bc every1 was rippin on the game i nearly didn't even try the free weekend

anyways for now: 7.75 / 10 RR

*imagine these clowns throw in a free DLC like Lod and it will finally get over 8 of 10 bc it does still need to be changed "a bit"

I believe if blizz doesn't let off and polishes this game to finish it could draw so much more people

It's a thing now with steam. A growing number of people check out what's in the gaming news and then troll those forums with all sorts of daft stuff. I don't know if it's wokers trying to upset gamers or people with nothing better to do, but I have learned to ignore them and try games out for myself. I can tell you one thing, they are usually 99.9 % wrong when they say a game is bad in some way, the game actually does turn out to be dope.
D4 is a brilliant game that I have already 60 hours in and I'm new to the game. :D Already had twice my moneys worth.

If they are dumb enough not to lock their profiles you will always see the same on there 10+ years on Steam. Less than 30 games in the library.
They cannot afford to buy games and this, clearly, is the only joy they have in life.

Diablo 4 was released in an unfinished state. Not all the game mechanics had been implemented, there was no really well defined gameplay loop necessary for post-campaign play, and it was obvious that itemization and gear/loot mechanics were horribly rushed.

Season 1 coughed up a lackluster play experience and could have been called the "Season of No Effort." Players started building Diablo 4's coffin, all that was needed was a few more nails...

I didn't play S2/S3. I gave up after seeing where S2 was going, which pointed to the idea that Blizzard didn't care about a meaningful end-game gameplay loot nor did they want to finish making their game...

This is what outraged many fans. The game was trash in terms of previous Diablo titles (NOT including the mobile cashgrab "Immortal.")

But, I'm changing my tune now quite a bit. It still has some issues, most notably with some bugs in terms of some ability mechanics and issues with servers, especially with "Cross-Platform Play" enabled.

However... So far, Season 4's gameplay experience is like playing an entirely different kind of Diablo 4 game than I've played yet, from Betas through the Seasons I played.

If gamers are going to criticize it, that's fine. But, they need to refresh their knowledge as many of the previous criticisms are no longer as valid.

It still has a ways to go. It still needs polish, some balancing in terms of progression, some expanding of gameplay outside of the focus on The Pit progression, and easing up a bit on how difficult it can be to get gear worthy of the Masterwork crafting that's now available, etc.

It is more disapointment than hate to be honest. The game is in a much better state now than at launch, that said it will never rise to the highs opf the franchise.

Sad really that the best game in this series is still Diablo 2, a game released in 2000.

A lot of game series had their best games released around that time or earlier.

It was a different time, with cooler game devs

Just goes to show you to not let others do your thinking for you. If you enjoy the game, who cares what anyone else thinks of it?

Blizzard never puts their games on Steam unless they are not selling well enough. That is all you need to know.

This game is x15 times better considering the amount of money I've sent on it compared to D2 (bought two versions + 4 cosmetics sets so far) :lunar2019piginablanket: Not to mention it's the most fun aRPG out of the present generation (let alone the best looking, by a landslide)

I'm just wondering - trying to gain perspective. I have the game on Blizzard and was playing a druid and just got so bored - dropped it after a few days. With the new updates, is it worth getting back into? I played a lot of D3 - all classes, but found progression/travelling around in D4 a huge slog. I want to like D4 but have a backlog with games like ghost of tsushima and hades II, etc but miss playing an arpg. Maybe it was the class I chose.

more like 100% easier - max level a few days max all the glyphs you gonna use in 3hrs or so and stats are so simple now

They mixed a bunch of "good" ideas into a consumer slop.

The world is nice. It's also stagnant. I thought the event system would at least match Guild Wars 2's dynamic events. Nope, just the exact same events in the exact same locations.

The equipment system is ripped right out of MMOs. You only want Legendary or Unique. You want the same thing, but with a higher gear score. Your main method of gearing up is utilizing various currencies instead of sifting through the gear dropped by enemies. You even get the +1 gear upgrading system of eastern MMOs.

Your character is meaningless. It's just a vessel to get Seasonal cosmetics. You don't need to play Seasonal, but it's not particularly difficult to get the gear you want, so there isn't much else.

Builds have a wide variety until higher tiers, where they get constricted. That's fine, because this is a min/max genre, but it tends to shove players out of unique build ideas and more into whatever is meta that season.

You'll play for a bit because the action is fun. You'll leave because the action doesn't have a payoff. There is no real economy. No real chase items. No permanence of your characters to build them up over time. Just seasonal cosmetics to pick up.

I don't have an issue buying cosmetics or the season pass. It just feels like buying the cosmetics in the only reward.

They could have scaled new heights with the game, but it really feels like they stopped short on every idea to end up with a fun to play, yet bland and forgettable experience.

Yeah. I'm, playing on Battle.net and D4 has been the only game I've been playing for the last few days. They did some good work for Season 04 Loot Reborn and it shows. I plan on playing for a couple hundred hours if things stay like this and if they the game gets any better than it might be one of my favorite games.

Last year I bought D4 and uninstalled immediately and told myself I'd never touch the game or anything Blizzard ever again and I'm really surprised they have done what they've done for D4.

I'm actually having some fun and that's so crazy to say.

all you need to do is look up the userbase of overwatch 2 on steam, see that it's overwhemingly negative, then look at how many people are playing it. There you go.
jeremyakabob May 23, 2024 @ 4:48pm
Hey, to each their own. I hope people enjoy the hell out of this game. I've been a Diablo loyalist for ages. That being said, here are the PERSONAL OPINIONS I have about the reasons why D4 has failed not only me, but apparently much (not all) of the community as well.

1. Money. How much do you need from us? Full price game, then also need to pay for season pass, then also micro-transactions for cooler in-game stuff. It's hard not to see the greed. Now you want us to buy it again on steam huh? Also, that just says they're not making enough with their independent launcher. "We want to break down barriers" -Blizz. Suuuure, yea that's the reason. *eye roll*

2. I played it. I enjoyed it. I finished enjoying it. That's as best as I can sum up. Replay-ability isn't there. Why? MMOs I'm used to playing you get to keep using your main character as the new stuff comes. Make your whole online persona; your digital YOU. This whole, "start fresh" idea with the new seasons wasn't well thought out. If I want to create a fresh character in the new season, allow me to do that on my own but still have my original to feel badazz with. In D1,2,3 I finished the game with every character and went through the highest difficulties with each of them, spending countless hours of my life and enjoying the "Hell" out of it ;) , because I had the choice.

3. No random dungeon/map generator. I get bored without it. I attribute part of the main success of the blizzard gaming when it started was the fact that you could restart the game and it would be your same character but a fresh unexplored dungeon with maybe even new quests/monsters/items you haven't encountered yet. The Cloudy unknown map is the key. Seeking out into the mystery to find and explore, made me want more.

So Diablo trying to become more like an MMO is where it went wrong mainly (and the greed). Who knows, maybe there will be success in the future because this was their first time trying to dip into that pool (of money). I hope they do figure it out and make a better game(hopefully in a less greedy and more creativity / "to make a really good game" standpoint). I'm actually even hoping They fix D4 in a way I'll get back on it.

Sure there are plenty other things we can all gripe about the game. PVP people have a lot to say, I personally like having PVP separate so I can enjoy my game and not worry about immature kids doing what they do because they're mad at life. For the most part though if they stuck to their original game style instead of trying MMO, keeping with the random map generator and not forcing new characters with new seasons, people wouldn't have been as thrown-off and the smaller issues could be worked out or people would adapt better.

Minor notes (just some of things I can remember off the top of my head that didn't necessarily ruin the game but would've been nice):
a. If you're gonna have such amazing graphics with these epic weapons and skins at least let us preview/inspect up close, like how my character looks in the start menu. I think it would make people more apt to get certain gears to show-off. Grim Dawn, which I'm starting to get into, isn't as detailed, but lets you zoom and man I love that. Just each little room with a table that has stuff on it, or a fun painting on the wall of a cabin, blood and guts everywhere, and especially viewing my decked out character with pride.
b. They could have done a better job at getting you to do side quests. I felt like it was just fetch quests mainly. I really just wanted to play the main story because it was more interesting.
c . World bosses were a joke because some 99 would come in and just wipe it out, leaving no challenge for me.

Bottom line, have fun with it, but I wouldn't sink your wallet into it. I don't hate on people loving it, I know people got different reasons to hate some of the games I love. Everyone likes different things.
