Ray Tracing = no good
Not only can I not tell a difference, but having RT on gives the game a weird rubberbanding effect. 4080 super 7800 x3d. Not that I've ever expected much out of RT other than a heavy cost in performance.

Did I not spell it properly? The worst thing ever created. It's a pure gimmick to sell their cards and promote games, nothing more. It's a useless performance hog that adds some better shadows.

You guessed wrong. I have an RTX 3080.

Did I not quote you correctly? "The worst thing ever created" is factually wrong. So it's worst than the Nuclear Bomb? Worst than Crystal Meth?

Whatever you say dude. LOL

With an RTX 3080, I don't see why you have an issue with RT. At worst, just turn it OFF and pretend it doesn't exist.

Worst thing ever created in terms of NVIDIA's lineups, tech, etc.

I never use RT. As I said, pure gimmick to generate sales and promote video games. As well as take a cut in promotion from said video games they end up sponsoring. I may prefer Intel and NVIDIA but I'll still say what absolutely sucks about their products. E cores are trash with Intel. RT is trash with NVIDIA. Maybe in 10-15 years they'll finally figure out how to implement them properly.

DLSS is a joke too. Literally giving us watered down graphics with upscaling nonsense that takes away quality because deep down their cards can't even push good frames at native res. Which also happens because game publishers and developers can't code or optimize their products properly either.

Never mind, mate. I thought u were talking to me.

Even my 10 year old rig with a 1050 can run it in high settings.
You doubt i can play this on 4k with a 2 year old rig, with this hardware?

How long have you been around?

The topic is talking about running the game with ray tracing, mate. Obviously, the game is considerably less demanding wout this feature.

On an RTX 4070, I can play with over 110 fps almost all the time at 4K/DLSS Quality FG OFF with everything on Ultra wout RT, but performance plummets to 60-70 fps with FG ON at 4K/DLSS Performance with all the bells and whistles RT has to offer in this game.

I gave up committing to this discussion because people simply can’t read.

As I said before my rig can easily play this game ultra with ray tracing, but the ray tracing produces a weird rubber banding effect every 10 seconds or so. As minor as it is it’s enough for me to turn it off and play at 165fps native .

This sums up RT for me and why i went with AMD 7900 xtx. RT just didn't make things definitively better looking for me. Different sure, and sometimes I can't even tell a difference thanks to old eyes. Now all GPUs are judged by RT performance.

after some testing on a 4k screen the stutter and hitching seem better whit ray tracing maxed and frame gen on but i think that this is just brute force and the game could use more patching to smoth things out

I can run CP2077 at stable frames (2k) with full path tracing but not this. It doesn't look that different and there's a ton of light sources that don't do anything still. But the AO make a huge difference! Looks great. Hopefully S4 update isn't a let down. Not holding my breath with the Diablo track record though.

It's kinda subtle because the pre-baked lighting was already pretty good but I honestly think it looks alot better with it on. Like everything has those tiny shadows on the edges of things that give it good contrast without overdoing it like some games do. Isometric games are also less perform-ant with ray-tracing because the view itself presents so many objects and shadows ect vs 1st or third person where they can occlude alot of stuff. I find it weird but if you werent rubber banding before at all then it is purely a performance issue. I had the framerate capped at 120 and for some reason that made network latency double from like 90-100ms to 200 and up until I set the framerate cap all the way up to 400. So yea I have a really good card and I can run this game with ray-tracing at around 120fps with virtually no issues other than possibly more traversal stutter and this isn't even with with frame-gen. So yea if you are having performance issues with it just try upping the frame rate cap or just turn it off I mean the game looks pretty good with it off anyway.

Can't really compare everything to a game NVIDIA was literally sending a ton of top notch engineers to help implement all this stuff. It's also not even an apples to apples comparison because it's running on a proprietary engine made for isometric games.

I was thinking of buying a 4080 super to play on raytracing. Is it a waste of £1000 ?

I have a RTX7900XT and all seems good with it.

Yeah, I keep forgetting Diablo was made by a small indie developer without access to many talented people and piles of money...
