How to match campaign progress?

So my wife and i have been playing together litterally from the 1st spawn point in the campaign.

We literally created our characters together, started the game, she joined my party, and has done ever since.

But every time she joins me she gets a warning saying that our campaigns don;t match. But we havent spent a minute on these specific characters not in a party together.

So, how to we actually progress the campaign together?

On a side note. Do we HAVE to finish the campaign to open the 1st capstone dungeon? we are both lvl 48 at present, and the cathedral of light doesn;t have a dungeon in it. So i'm guessing so. unless anyone knows of a method to unlock it? we want to move onto tier 3 so we can start getting the better loot and aspects.

You need to finish the campaign together , then it will open up
