If you want flashy & colourful and being OP in 3 hours or less then Diablo III is your game.
I find that D3 allows more freedom to fool around with builds, and particularly skills, that work (though they won't necessarily bring you to GR150, they can still be fun), because of the amount of gear you can get.
While D4 is much more straightforward, good gear is more scarce and does not allow for as much variation.
The only things that stopped was getting new season set transmogs, which is just 1 (making one for every class and gender was enough work I guess in terms of free transmogs), the rest of season rewards rotate, though sometimes a new pet pops up too.
Imo D3 is yeah very fun, getting to around GR ~70 is enough for me though (depends on the class), after that it becomes a slog fest like this game is at start to finish (depends on the class and build).
Story is though way better in D4, especially the cinematics, D3 is still good story wise.
Ah, come on, D3 is a power fantasy with cringe, inconsistent characters and nonsensical story line. It has very good gameplay in the endgame, but as far as story goes it's embarrassing.
The way I see it, D4 is the first entry in the series with a story and characters that can be taken seriously and worth seeing (but not side content, it's super cringe).

Now I'm on Switch, starting the campaign again. I love the game.
Judging by your comments I don't think I should buy this game for end game unless there will be good development.
Another question is, can I use gamepad on D4? Cuz I got used to it in D3 and found it better and more convenient than keyboard and mouse.
Diablo 4 is a rearrangement of Diablo 3 systems. Paragon points are just setup as boards now, greater rifts and rifts and just nightmare dungeons or AoZ. Then there's a boring mmo recreation landscape where you can grind boring repetitive monsters, just to grind and level like in an mmo simulator.
