Bg is about making decisions and living with the consequences of your actions.
Yes, you can mindlessly kill in Bg. But you will be punished and rewarded for it.
Diablo is purely ABOUT mindlessly killing everything in your path. If it has a health bar, kill it.
Diablo is just as much about balancing stats to get a perfect build for you playstyle as it is about actually playing the game. Some of that comes from armor. Some of it comes from selecting spells or skills; which oftentimes feel less powerful and more boring in Diablo 4 than they did in previous Diablos. This is probably due to 'balancing multiplayer' even though a lot of players don't even want to do multiplayer. The pet classes are kind of a joke in terms of actually being a pet class. If you're here for being a necromancer, try Diablo 2 instead.
BG3 is a game for nerdy geeks who want to feel emotions themselves as a result of their actions and smash faces with maybe a tiny bit of number crunching.
Diablo 4 is a game for geeky nerds who want to crunch numbers and smash faces with a dash of feeling empathy for the emotions the characters are feeling as a result of the story.
Neither is particularly a bad thing. It's just that Diablo 4 is a lesser imitation of earlier successes. Is it a bad game? No, it's reasonably above average. Is it a bad game in the context that it was made by a major company that produced better games when they had less technology and funds? Yes, it sucks.
If you enjoy bg3, I won't say you won't enjoy diablo 4. But don't expect to enjoy diablo 4 just because you enjoy bg3.
But, again, I recommend diablo 2. If you ignore the graphics, it's an amazing game for its time period. A lot of modern gamers ignore games like Diablo 2 or Nox by Westwood studios just because they're 'outdated'. But... there's a lot of good content in there and even replaying the games feels pretty solid. With some games I replay them and it feels like I enjoyed the memory of playing the game for the first time more than actually playing the game again years later. But that's not the case with a few rare games like those two.
The first Sparkle Pony microtransaction in WoW made more money than Starcraft II Wings Of Liberty. A game which was developed with 2 years overtime. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kept buying the damn horse so where we are now is Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal.
So yeah. I would skip Diablo IV. Go get Grim Dawn if what you want is a modern ARPG.
if you want story, 1 and 2 are better by quite a large margin
if you want gameplay, poe is better
I would argue wolcen is better and I don't like it that much.
