Bought the game on Battle net but currently playing on steam
Can I still play on Steam while technically I didn't bought it on the steam platform?

already level 30, like I said I already bought the game in battlenet/blizzard and connected to steam (free trial cap is at level 20)

I'll figure this out on the 28th heheh

What happens when you buy D4 on steam while already owning it on Battle.net? Do I get a new account or can I play with my existing account? Do I still have to log in with Battle.net while playing on steam?
You have to connect your Battle.net account once and everything from there migrates over to Steam. Characters, cosmetics, etc. So if you have the Ulti Version on Bnet you get the Ulti cosmetics in Steam even if you buy Standard.

After linking the account Bnet is no longer needed if you play through Steam.

so you buy it again??

why not just use the battlenet version?

As you can check my profile, do have some games and more friends on Steam.
The most useful one is able to use "Game Pad" if you play D4 on Steam.

You are fine, when you launch the game at first through Steam you have to fill your battlenet login and password and both are linked. So you'll still be playing a few days from now.
Ill let you know this 28th. Hopefully this is the case

I do have Ultimate Edition on Battle.net and have Standard Edition on Steam.
Please uninstall Battle.net client and install Steam client and go check your battle.net account connections. if you connect Steam there. Then you won't have any problem. Just PLAY GAME

regardless, you bought it TWICE, on 2 platforms.

I am hoping I'll still be able to use the steam platform or else I'll install the blizzard/Battle net version.. again.

I doubt it will be possible to keep playing on Steam when the free trial version ends.
I bought it on Battle Net (unfortunately like 2 weeks before it went to Steam) and downloaded the free version from Steam just to unlock some achievements (yeah, I know it's useless but I like achievements :steammocking: ) It actually only unlocked 2 achievements while my friend unlocked about a dozen just by login in. Weird, but I know it is not a big matter haha.

I've been able to play even if my characters are way past level 20, though I'm pretty sure it won't be possible to launch the game from Steam when the trial ends even if my Bnet account is linked to Steam.... I still hope that could be possible but it is very unlikely to happen.

I wish Blizzard would give us the opportunity to unlock the game on Steam when we already bought it on battle net but I guess they hope some people will buy it twice just to play on their favorite platform. (Steam for me). I would have maybe considered buying it twice if I had a Steam Deck, which is not the case. It would be a waste of money to buy it another time just to play it on Steam so I guess I'll have to stick with Battle Net... :steamsad:

Did you try to type the CD key you have in Battle.NET in the Steam menu : "Games" > "Activate a Steam product" ?

You don't get CD Keys when you buy blizzard games digitally. Not that I can tell from the site.

you dont know that, a lot of 'experts' said it will take years to get any discount, its getting discounted extremely fast for a new release
