Diablo IV is a banger of a game at this point and will hopefully only get better with time.
If your main concern for now is campaign and you like what you got so far in the trial, then rest assured that there's plenty more awesome set pieces to see in the campaign itself (if that's your interest).
Then there are also tons of sidequests - some sidequests in Diablo 4 are bland, but some are REALLY COOL and add onto the lore of the regions and even (rarely) add extra touches onto the main story.
And the endgame is already much improved in Season 2, with more stuff coming soon.
Regarding the mtx, they are all cosmetics only, nothing that gives you anything other than looks and emotes. And the game NEVER shoves the store in your face like other games with mtx, you can actually forget about the store and never be directed at it.
About the Seaspn pass, you really don't need the accelerated one, if you play casually (couple of hours per day) you should still be able to complete it in about 2 weeks. Only thing that might take longer is the season journey, the last step gives you a special title.
And finally, if you enjoyed the art style/atmosphere/gameplay so far, the game is definetly worth it, current game I would personally place at 8/10 and improving.
At 40% off the Deluxe is more cost efficient than buying the base game at -40% and then buying Battle Pass separately, so I second the idea of buying Deluxe edition.
The Battle Pass in Diablo 4 actually has one of the most friendly progression systems you could ever imagine: the progress bar increases not only by doing challenges (which ALMOST NONE of them are truly time limited, other than the end of the season itself of course)... but it also increases by killing monsters aka it progresses alongside the actual XP gain.
So in the endgame (above level 60-70) it goes lightning fast in my opinion even if you aren't doing any objectives related to Seasonal Journey. You're almost guaranteed to have finished Battle Pass by the time your character is level 80~~.
You also get some stuff for Seasonal Journey but the only 'permanent reward' for it are a couple of character titles, completely skippable if you're not a completionist.
The actual Seasonal Journey doesn't require you to complete all objectives, either. You can skip two objectives in each tier.
Meanwhile the Battle Pass itself will level itself up over time as you kill monsters. And hey, if you happen to like the objectives in Seasonal Journey you can do them but you don't have to.
On top of that, they give you 700 Platinum for completing the Battle Pass so the next Battle Pass you buy is only half~~ the price, the one after that is also half~~ the price, and every fourth Battle Pass will be free provided you save up all the Platinum and only buy Battle Passes :P
So every year you get four battle passes for $20 in total. $10 + $5 + $5 + $0, rinse and repeat.
I mean, if you like your character you can continue playing for some time after the campaign to see if you enjoy the endgame, but yes, of course! All monsters killed will contribute towards Battle Pass, whether you start a new campaign on a new character or not. It's just that you kill more monsters in endgame due to the higher monster density in certain areas :P
If you make a new character you can even Skip Campaign or play the Campaign itself again.
(either way you WILL have your mount available after you finish Campaign at least once).

That is very fair!
I will highlight that if you skip the campaign on your alternate character(s), you still can do the sidequests and kind of roleplay that as your personalized pseudo-campaign, so it's not like you're entirely directionless if you choose to skip campaign.
Up to you, though, most important is to have fun!
No one does, lol.
It they would have presented it as a "Try for free" then no one would have had any misconceptions about there being some limitations.
I've convinced a friend of mine to download the game and play with me this week only to find out after about an hours of gameplay that this is actually trial. A trial that's even worse than the beta test. After my friend reached level 20, it actually kicked him out of the game. He can no longer start playing on that character. At least in the beta you were limited and could not level up past 20, but you could still play and complete sidequests, but now it actually stop you playing once you reach 20.
He had to download 90GB over a slow internet connection only to play for an hour.
By the way, why are you forced to download the high-res textures on Steam? On Battlenet you can choose to donwload only the base game, without the high-res textures, which are around 40GB. Why is the steam version limited like that? It's not like the technology is not available here. There are plenty of games that offer this option.
And this is not about money. My friend wouldn't have bought the game anyway after playing this weekend. One, because we have plenty of other games to play, two, because the game doesn't offer substantial long term play. I've finished the game when it launched, played a few more days with another class, but it is ultimately boring after you reach end game.
The problem is that we have wasted time because Blizzard intentionally misscommunicated what they actualyl offer. I've wasted on hour, but my friend "wasted" almost a day. We couldn't play anything co-op while he was downloading. It's not the end of the world. It's not like he stayed all day in front of the monitor waiting to play the game. He spent that time doing stuff, but the problem is the way this event was presented. There was no other reason to handle it like this other than boosting numbers.

I can see the difference on some textures, mostly world environment, even on a 1440p monitor.
But that doesn't mean that there shouldn't be an option to choose if you want to download them or not, since the game already supports this.
