But other than that for Diablo 4: couch coop on PS - check, cross-save/cross-platform support - check, playable on Steam Deck - check. The only other ARPG that I cherish and can immerse myself in while playing on Steam Deck is Grim Dawn. It’s the only other game where I can create truly unique builds and go nuts with dual class system and devotions. PoE has its own appeal with unique gem system or giant passive skill tree (although when you reach endgame or even certain story bosses you realize that entire branch of passives you just picked is trash and later like overall 90% of the tree is trash and you had to watch 3h long video on Youtube to just mimic someone else’s build so it can stay viable in endgame). Evened out progression and paragon boards in D4 make much more sense to me, even though I could agree that D4 currently lacks content variety which I am sure will be added later on. But imo overall D4 got no competitions in the world of ARPGs.
Oh yeah, those are all valid points. I love how PoE fanbase hates D4 for paid cosmetics while in PoE after many hours I could have almost maxed out char with impressive skills but the char would still look like a hobo that just woke up on the beach. That unless I buy an outfit for 20 dollars. And how game almost forces you to buy specialized storage tabs if you want to manage and structure fustercluck of myriad of orbs. And that’s not even talking about special tabs for various league items.
Overall I agree with everything you say. People like to put something on pedestal while hating on other things for the sake of hating. Or even sometimes just to feel included to and validated within their community. I have an impression that PoE community is way too toxic and fanatical about their game. I still feel like PoE got its own interesting things and mechanics going on and still would like to try PoE 2 when it comes out, hoping they rework and flesh issues we mentioned above.
It’s nice to see someone actually praising D4 and acknowledging good stuff in it. Funny thing, couple days ago I wanted to post something similar here about D4 too and just say how much fun I’ve been having with Season of Blood.
Thanks, the username is a reference to song A.D.I.D.A.S by Korn :)
It sure is the most attractive and fun games out there.
I didn't even wanna play Diablo but I run only HC now. I thought I hated ARPG's and could not get into them anymore, it's only that people overrated PoE because of it's F2P trap and I really was just playing a terrible game.
Game sucks, it's laggy and runs like hell for the way it looks. If Diablo pulled half the buggy ♥♥♥♥ PoE did you wouldn't hear the end of it. I get the same frames in D 4 with the res scale turned up that I do in PoE native...D 4's frametimes are enormously better too.
Ultimately, to be successful in either game PoE costs more too...Great...it's got like 9000 mechanics...It's all just bloat tho. Quantiy is not greater than quality.
Also, PoE's trade chat is just awful. I actually like reading what people are doing in D 4's trade.....PoE I HAVE to turn off because of the incels.
That said PoE 2 does look good...I'm gunna wait and see but it looks like something I want to play. It's only because they are doing there own thing and not being a clone of another game this time around....But it's a big maybe on it....GGG could F that game up bad easily...it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ huge from what they've shown and it's gunna be tough for them to pull it off....I don't know how they're gunna balance all those classes with the gameplay style they're going for but I'm willing to check it out.,
People watched 15 minutes of a guy playing one class and think it's the end of Diablo....We don't even know when the games gunna release and all devs show off their best stuff. They are really hyping up PoE 2...I hope thye can deliver but I'm skeptical that they are gunna be able to balance 12 classes all playing the same campaign on the style they're going for...it just sounds like they're in over their heads.
I dislike Diablo 4 because it has no substance and has barely any build variety.
I think its a decent game for people with limited time or people who want a small break in between Path of Exile leagues but I couldn't imagine spending the amount of time on it as I did in Path of Exile and even Diablo 3 had more substance.
Blizzard is going in the right direction, season 2 was a way better then season 1 but the amount of things to do gets boring fast.
And Path of Exile players are not any more toxic then you are for making this post about Path of Exile, so you are kinda being a hypocrite
I get it once in a while a little bit of trolling is fun
I am a Path of Exile fanboy but I apriciate Diablo 4 too, I hope in the long run it adds more because the combat is absolutly amazing.
Also games can co-exist, I used to play a lot of Diablo 3 and Path of Exile at the same time, everyone gets bored of a game eventually and needs a break and I always enjoyed Diablo.
There are always whiny people in forums bashing a game, most likely because they doubt themselves and to convince them self a game is bad they need to convince others.
I remember when the Metal Gear Survive came out, everyone hated it except me I had a blast and had even more fun with it than the other Metal Gear games (very unpopular opinion)
Just keep playing what you enjoy playing even if everyone thinks its bad
But there is plenty of room for experimentation, and you can make alot of different builds work (granted you know and use the underlying mechanics and synergies), for campaign basically anything goes, only when going into lategame T4 you will start to really see if your build is up to the task. But at that point, I usually stuff the char (after reaching lvl100, maybe done a few endgame tasks) and start another one, but if you really crave for tackling the "endgame", you can just switch to the fotm cheese if your own build does not work out anymore.
From beta over preseason and S1 up to S2 now, I just did my own thing, doing a homebrew build without looking up meta stuff, simply experimenting with my class and see what works, or even go into it with a fixed idea and then try to make it work somehow.
Preseason I did a hybrid Druid rampaging away as a bear while covering the whole screen in earth and lightning magic (lvl80 due to time restricts), S1 I did a Frenzy DS Zerker (lvl100), easily carving through NMD100 solo, and this season I lunge around with a Walking Arsenal Leapquake Overpower IM HotA barb, lvl100 and NMD80, while my pure Frostmage is at lvl91 and NMD74. Especially the Frostmage is a completely off-meta funbuild, freezing whole screens of trash and able to just run circles and kite/dodge while unleashing a freezing hell of Blizzards and Frost Spheres. Granted, takes rather long on bossfights, but other than those even 20-25+ NMD's are smooth sailing.
I mean, you are an exile, stranded at a foreign coast, meeting other exiles and their enclaves, scavenging what they can to survive. Who cares about the looks of some armor, as long as it provides protection, and a simple club with some nails can sometimes be as effective as a finely crafted sword.
But regarding D4, they kinda nailed it pretty well with free and paid cosmetics, the ingame armor sets are quite diverse and good looking, only the mtx ones get that extra *bling*. Actually, I think some of the standard armors look better (as in, more realistic) than the payed-for stuff. But then, if someone got the money, and is into cosmetic stuff, who the hell wants to judge.
