That should work since the accounts share characters and everything else. However, I'm not sure so try to confirm that before doing anything! In fact, I see a lot of complaints about this not working in the discussions at the moment.

Don't buy platinum here on Steam, there's is a known issue right now with it - the payment will go through but the platinum will not be delivered.

I have an open ticket right now with Blizzard and they don't have a solution or time frame for when it will be resolved...

It appears to be an unreliable transaction and nobody on Steam/Valve's or Blizzard's side is taking responsibility for fixing it. You have a chance of receiving NOTHING for your purchase but apology letters that do not resolve the issue, yet.

do not - I was order 5700 platinum in steam store page 14 days ago and still not delivered. Opened 2 ticket to blizzard support no result 2 ticket to steam no result my 45$ lost.
