I think it's old design D4 should probably shed at this point.
Honestly how do you get into a game like Diablo, or POE, etc etc, and questions season gameplay.
But otherwise, yeah, I'm surprised there's this much outrage over starting new characters for seasonal activities, since that's been how Diablo has worked for a long time now. Not that I'd mind if Blizzard re-throught that requirement for seasons. It feels stranger with seasons bringing actual content and story now.
