Blizzard Launcher
Honestly, only the Blizzard launcher should have come to Steam.
This way you could just sync the launcher with Steam, get the game which through the previous sync would sync with Steam too.

Wanting people to buy the game again which will at most be 20% off the original price is stupid for those who already own the game in the first place.

In such cases, people who own the game, should only be expected to pay that extra "Steam-fee", for those that want to integrate all their games to Steam.

This won't be affecting me, as I am fine with using Blizzard without Steam, but it's just the concept that is bothersome.

Nobody else does this. You could argue the entire industry needs to change but this isn't a Blizzard issue. You can link and sign in to many accounts but none of them sync your game collection. EA, Ubisoft, Xbox, etc. You don't get free Steam games for owning them on other platforms.

just buy it on blizzard if you dont own it and if you do, you are just paying double for no reason, anyone buying it on steam will be playing it on the blizzard launcher, so no point in buying on steam, unless you like launching a launcher, to launch a launcher, to then play the game.

While Steam is a separate platform, progress will carry over when you sign into the game via your BattleNet account after purchasing on Steam. This means that players won't have to start over or lose progress if they do want to change over to Steam.

If you read what I wrote, I never implied on getting anything for free.
I understand there is a fee and developers price up their games to bring them to the Steam platform, they say it is 15-25%.

I'd rather pay just that, than the entirety of the game.

Edit:

This is my analogy:

I want to get home and I have a road I usually take, yet a shorter road opens, but it has got a toll. I am willing to pay this toll to use it, but that is not enough for them, they want me to pay for my house again.

These platforms giving you access to these games, can be seen as such.
You can take the Blizzard St., or for convenience you can take Steam St..

Well developers can get keys for the game for free from Steam that they are free to almost do whatever they want to with them. It's how bethesda handled it after they shutdown their launcher. Unless it launches for half price then don't bother until much later on when they actually fix the game. It would be more of an issue if the game was actually good. Besides all of these games will just be Game Pass content that they will push out constantly from now until the end of time.

I think this might only be worth it when the first Expansion is released.
If people are keen to move over to Steam, they should just wait for when that expansion releases and get it on Steam.

change over to steam? does this mean they dont need the blizzard launcher to play, just the account nonsense?

if thats the case why would they do that, are they going to remove the blizzard launcher?

You need the Blizzard launcher either way.

Basically, with this you will just launch the game through Steam, which will startup the Blizzard launcher, which will startup the game.

Steam will allow you to track the hours played, take photos (which most people just use the software that comes with their GPU or other..), and achievements.

And no, Blizzard will stay, but there might be a new number of people who aren't familiar with Blizzard or Diablo and through Steam they get exposed to the game, but there are also who just like the convenience of having all their games in one place, so they buy the game again solely for that reason.

Blizzard is staying and this is no indication of there being anything negative going on with them.

I would love it if Microsoft shuts down battle.net and let us migrate our libraries to Steam like they did with the Bethesda launcher. I wouldn’t get my hopes up though since they said they plan to keep supporting battle.net, but there’s always the possibility Microsoft says otherwise once the deal is finalized.

You sure it isn't running in the background as a service?

I believe GTA and Red Dead Redemption are like that too, Rockstar Launcher has to be installed, even though you don't really use the interface for them, they're in the background.

Either way, it's there game, they can do as they please. Just find the idea behind this absurd which is why I made this post, but I have since realized I could have just tagged my post as reply to another. I've seen a few since, like this one.
