Battlenet Account on Steam Diablo 4?
Does anyone know if D4 on steam will be explicitly steam account bound? Or can you access your Battlenet account (and subsequent characters) through the steam client version of the game?

For those who wondering, I just received an email from battle.net support, where they said that the game that was purchased in Battle.net CANNOT be transferred to steam. this means that in order to play on steam you must purchase a copy of the game on steam

What about the other way around? If I buy the game on Steam and tie it to my Battlenet account - will I be able to see it in Battlenet library and run it via Battlenet client without Steam?

Good question. Anyone got an answer?

Folks said Steam version is not visible in Battle.net client and cannot be played without launching Steam first (unless you've purchased Battle.net version separately)

Steam version connect to Battle.net version with all the options of the previously purchased Battle.net version. I.e. you can purchase standard on Steam and see Ultimate Battle.net add-ons.

Of course they would make you purchase it again. Activision is the definition of greed.

Literally every game company on planet does this same thing. If you want a game in a different ecosystem, I think it's reasonable to ask the customer to purchase it accordingly.

It's not greed, it's business.

I dont think you can use Battle Account for Steam purposes, I got this game on Battlenet, but i dont really hang out on Battlenet anymore.

I wouldnt mind having this game on Steam, but only way for that to work is buy it again (Steam Version). Wish i knew sooner if this was going to happen, i would have waited.

Not having to touch battlenet is pretty decent. I hate Origin, and Battlenet. I want everything running only steam, nothing else.

this is what i would like to know, becuase elder scrolls i bought on steam and it requires their own launcher so all steam install does is install elder scrolls launcher which has it own store system built into it like blizzard.

UBI software games you buy on steam also require you to install there games in UBI store and when u launch form steam they auto launch UBI soft for example and you then launch game through there store.

I am wondering if blizzard is same you buy on steam and steam just installs there launcher and you have to install and play it via there blizzard app and store. ?

so alot of games that have their own app a launch authentication system for log in require steam to register game through there store front also, so most of games i have owned that where MMO or hybrid MMO that ran had there own store apps, I after buying from steam skip installing it on steam sense all that would install is launcher that take me to as stated UBIsoft or, elderscrolls store launcher

I am going guess that when you buy diablo 4 it installs the blizzardnet app and then you install and update game via that blizzardnet and talk to your friends via that.

sense thats been common way for most of these games so far.

this is how fallout 64, elder scrolls even new world works this way, where i can game just installs store front launcher and then install of game it self happens from with in the developers launcher.

for example i can verify that iafter buying elder scrolls online and fallout 64 along with newworld I do not really have to install launcher via steam i can just install those games launchers off of there store fronts then do install from there and skip steam.

it would be nice to know for sure if blizzard is same way once you do frist install and log in to your account if the game is then tied to your blizzard account sense you have to make a blizzzard account to play game your not really playing with steam login for example.

I can also confrime that anno games require when you buy them on steam they launch the UBI store and you install the game through that app to authenticate ownership also.

so agin I would bet that daiblo 4 requires blizzard net app sense you have to log in wtih a blizzzard account to cross platform play.

so on all those other games once you did the frist install via steam and registered user name on blizzard account or tied the game to blizzard account you may not need steam agin ever to do reinstall of daiblo 4 you may also be able to just log into app blizzard app and play it with out using steam to launch the blizzard app.

that how above examples work anyways.
