Yes, the game is bad, mechanically, itemization, auto scaling that always makes you feel weaker. If you want to experience the story, peruse some lets play on youtube to sample it (warning - extreme cringe).

Did you play Baldur's Gate 3 yet? That game is objectively massively better than Diablo 4. I'd say Diablo 4 story is worth about 20 dollars, it was decent, but most of us buying Diablo 4 didn't buy it for the story. The game (D4) is a huge time waster and not on par with ARPGs from 1 to 2 decades ago.

If Diablo 4 charged me 20 dollars for their game then a warning popped up after I beat the story and it said "sorry, we had development problems, don't bother playing leveling to 100, what you just played was most of our development time" then I would have been okay with buying it. Since I paid a lot more and wasted my time leveling to be disappointed, I feel like Blizz really ripped me.

Nobody actually answered the question. OP.. for campaign ONLY.. the game is to expensive. If you have money to burn.. sure go ahead. The story isn't finished.. ends on a big cliffhanger and only takes like 10 hours. It is quite alright tho. Definitely not a bad story. But also not a banger.

You wont have a working build even at the end of the campaign.. where the fun starts.. you will dip around the open world finding nothing.. the actual game starts after the campaign... season 2 is kinda decent.. there can be fun here. But the game still has fatal flaws that show once you are done with the campaign.

Your character choice also has a big impact on fun. Druid, Barb and Necro for example only really gets fun at higher lvls once you have some build set. While Sorc and Rogue speed lvl though everything since they are strong without anything and totally break the game once you have a build.

Again. If you arent interested in playing after the campaign.. where the actual game starts. No, hell no. Not fot 50-100 bucks.

Get Grim Dawn instead. But.. if want to play more than the campaign. Yeah buy it. The game is 1-2 seasons away to actually feel like it released out of early access.

I agree this guy's answer is the best. A lot of us are venting b/c of how bad this game actually is in other areas.

How much would the story be worth to you? I would probably say 10-20 dollars at most right?
TyresTyco Oct 24, 2023 @ 12:36am
Yeah 20 dollars at max should be it. Kinda funny considering the only semi decent looking cosmetic sets cost 25.

The game isn't worth its price.

Wait til season 5 and/or an expansion. Maybe the game will be better then.

Game is not bad, ignore people talked about negative stuff. Enjoy game :heart1331::oxinablanket:

Yes, it is in a bad state.

95% of the item affixes aren't worth even looking at. They're just there to waste player time.

Look Baldur's gate looks sexy, but turn based combat? Wtf.
Do not forget most of us played Diablo 3 for a solid half a decade before getting bored, same thing will happen here.

It's not 10 hours, don't believe any random bs.
If you don't just rush, but explore a bit and do some side quest content, you will most likely end up at 30-40 hours.

Ok.

The story isn't worth $70, it's not awful but it's nothing to write home about.
Jolly Devil Oct 24, 2023 @ 2:38am
If you’re one of those people that only plays the main story then yeah, it’s like 10 hours to 15 hours ( you can beat Skyrim in 4 hours too that way). But there are tons of side quest and dungeons to explore. Plus it’s fun to just play the game with the class you like. You can easily get 30 to 40 hours of gameplay without seasons on your first run. Yeah, the story isn’t BG3 level of detail but few games are tbh. The gameplay loop is fun once you find the class you like and there’s a lot of transmog options too.

People on here are just childish losers who wanna keep whining about a game they don’t like instead of moving on. They’ll tell you anything like it’s only 10 hours of content. The game has flaws but it’s also fun.

The topic is about campaign. Not " how much is there to do in the game". The only one who seems to be a childish loser is you who has to shill for the game in every single thread.

Yeah there are side quest.. renown blah blub. That wasnt the question tho.

The campaign (ie, single player part) of the game includes side missions and dungeons, as that was put into the game to be played along with the main story to add to the lore and the experience. The main missions are just one aspect of the full story, the same way they are in every other game. Just so you know.

And yes, you are a childish loser who doesn't own the game but still wants to cry about it on the forums. Grow up and move on to another game that you actually like.
