Is it okay to play Diablo 4 as a Christian?
I want to emphasize that I'm not here to spark a religious debate, but I'm genuinely curious about the experiences of people from Christian or similar faith backgrounds who have played the Diablo games.

Hmmm think of it this way, you are literally killing/banishing demons in game. Don't think it could get more based as a Christian until they release the Paladin/Templar/Crusader class and you can lay down the holy smite on them demons, while blasting "In the Name of God".

If your faith in God is strong then you'll have no problem with the story in the game, sure the story revolves around creation, devils and angles but why would that deter you from your faith?. Moreover you're killing demons so that should be a plus yes?

I've played Diablo since 97, I was a kid back then. It didn't distort my mind in any way shape or form.

I wouldn't know as I am 100% atheist and I'm glad I'm not involved in all these religious wars going on in the world.

It also makes life far less complicated.

I get what you're saying, and you're right that religious differences can lead to conflicts. But it's important to realize that conflicts and problems aren't unique to any particular group, whether religious or not. People from all sorts of beliefs, including atheists, can sometimes be part of conflicts. The key thing to remember is that it's individual actions that cause these issues. So, it's best to promote understanding and cooperation among people from different backgrounds and beliefs rather than making sweeping generalizations about any group based on a few individuals.

You destroy evil demons and undead. You fight for the light. You gotta answer that question on your own if it is ok, based off of that.

videogames are Satan's toys, pray with reverence to Christ after exiting game

Just like others have said here It is very christian in a sense that you fight evils literally. But video gaming in general is unhealthy and satanic like drugs that induce addiction, waste of time and other unhealthy behaviors. Kinda ironic eh? so you will need to find a balance between the two.

Other game franchise that shares the similar christian absolutism is warhammer 40k series.

EDIT: and DOOM.

yes, jesus will be proud of you by slaying the minions of evil
no, jesus will be disappointing of you for playing a game where devs created all these evil minions

Let me tell you as a former Christian how this is not a dilemma:

You are most likely born into religious faith and that's cool, default values are lazy but easy, or you found faith while looking for something specific for your life. Maybe kick a meth addiction or build a more solid foundation to a future that once was full of uncertainty. And all of that is valid.

But.

It doesn't remove our humanity and desire to meddle with darkness, the depravation, the sullying of the soul, and the flesh. And there's one part in the bible that says something along the lines of "have a merry heart". So go for it.

Your library makes it exceedingly clear that your sensibilities don’t line up with the kinds of Christians that would object to Diablo 4’s content to the point that I’m not sure you’re making this post in good faith.

Not religious, but war games, the Witcher, left4dead etc would all go against the grain and not be acceptable under more orthodox views.

Christianity died out with the information age.. but from having many religious debates when younger...

If you can be a christian and not let fiction bother you, well then this won't either.

If you're in any way seriously precious about it, you'll probably be very wounded as there's satanic references and parallels to the real church in the story factions everywhere.

The other option is you could roleplay someone who likes killing demons specifically because you are a christian, that angle would also work.

Yeah basically if you're not very smart and religious at the same time, there's a strong chance this game will offend you at every turn.

No. Christians are required to sit there watching everyone else have fun while they pray to Sky Daddy and beg that he doesn't once again impregnate an underage girl to give birth to himself to kill himself to save them from himself.

No, it's not. You're supposed to be worshiping God, the father, Jesus, the holy son, the grand Poobah. Instead you are willing to be dominated by big mommy Lilith instead. That is heresy. So much heresy, that the Emperor of Mankind would smite you where you stand if he wasn't so chummy with his lord and savior Jesus Crust.
