I've played Diablo since 97, I was a kid back then. It didn't distort my mind in any way shape or form.
I wouldn't know as I am 100% atheist and I'm glad I'm not involved in all these religious wars going on in the world.
It also makes life far less complicated.
I get what you're saying, and you're right that religious differences can lead to conflicts. But it's important to realize that conflicts and problems aren't unique to any particular group, whether religious or not. People from all sorts of beliefs, including atheists, can sometimes be part of conflicts. The key thing to remember is that it's individual actions that cause these issues. So, it's best to promote understanding and cooperation among people from different backgrounds and beliefs rather than making sweeping generalizations about any group based on a few individuals.
Other game franchise that shares the similar christian absolutism is warhammer 40k series.
EDIT: and DOOM.
no, jesus will be disappointing of you for playing a game where devs created all these evil minions
take a pick i guess lol
You are most likely born into religious faith and that's cool, default values are lazy but easy, or you found faith while looking for something specific for your life. Maybe kick a meth addiction or build a more solid foundation to a future that once was full of uncertainty. And all of that is valid.
But.
It doesn't remove our humanity and desire to meddle with darkness, the depravation, the sullying of the soul, and the flesh. And there's one part in the bible that says something along the lines of "have a merry heart". So go for it.
Not religious, but war games, the Witcher, left4dead etc would all go against the grain and not be acceptable under more orthodox views.
If you can be a christian and not let fiction bother you, well then this won't either.
If you're in any way seriously precious about it, you'll probably be very wounded as there's satanic references and parallels to the real church in the story factions everywhere.
The other option is you could roleplay someone who likes killing demons specifically because you are a christian, that angle would also work.
Yeah basically if you're not very smart and religious at the same time, there's a strong chance this game will offend you at every turn.
