Data Retrieval Error

I get this error in Diablo IV steam version: Diablo IV was unable to retrieve necessary data. Please check your network connection. My network connection is fine. I can go on any site at full speed (400 Mbs), steam has no problem, and diablo server seems fine.

I checked steam file integrity... everything is OK. I had to do a hard reset on my PC because normal reboot was no longer working. Seems like Diablo IV crash messed up the network real good.

Tried with the BattleNet launcher (yes, I have both version of Diablo IV, but the steam version will mainly be for my Steam deck) and everything works fine, although, the battlenet version is 40 GB smaller because you can disable the 4K textures during installation.

Data Retrieval Error

I played about 4 hours on Season Launch day had no issues whatsoever. The next two days my game kept crashing due to 'Data Retrieval Error'. Impossible to play. Today I played for about 5 hours without issue, and now suddenly I cannot log into the game for more than a minute or two due to the same "Data Retrieval Error'. My network has no issues, I ran a scan and repair on the game files with no errors. This problem is DEFINITELY not on my end.
I guess its just D4BAD. edit: I only have BattleNet, not Steam.

yeah data retrieval error on opening video not a good sign and again 2 minute into fighting first mob. verifying game data if it happens again ill get the refund before their 3 hours we got your money scam.

Hi all don't know if we have same prob but managed to fix mine. having checked the integrity of files using properties it found 17 files not correct and repaired now works. Didn't need to do full install again. Again not sure if same prob but worth trying as have had no probs since

Two hours ago I was playing, then a 380Mb update, and I got this issue.
Tried reboot my PC, inspect game file completion, no issue, and this error still there.

I experienced the same thing after the last update. It has nothing to do with antivirus programs and file verification. Did anyone find the solve guys?

Ditto - this was caused by the last update and is a shocking indictment of bad programming practice at Blizzard. Shameful
