D4 wont launch on steam for me..

When I start the game it freezes on the Blizzard logo screen and closes a few minutes later. I've already tried restarting the PC and reinstalling the game. I have the game on Battle.net and it works normally. Is this happening to anyone else?

same here, it also happens on overwatch 2 for me. I've disabled firewall, re-installed, verified files, updated graphic card driver. Diablo opens fine for me on steam deck though

I'm having same problem. Try to launch and it starts to the load blizzard animation, but hangs after about 1 second. It plays a sound that keeps going after the animation freezes for maybe 2 seconds. Then nothing... I've let it set, I've tried various "solutions" people have posted online including changing LocalPrefs.txt DisableChromaEffects from "0" to "1" (and I've tried toggling most of the other settings too, still nothing.)

Very frustrating, I'm at the point I'm going to ask for refund. Maybe I'll try buying thru battlenet and seeing if that works??

That's wild. I was playing it fine 6 hours ago and then I tried hopping on just now and it did the same as you're describing. I force quit the game, started the game back up, immediately clicked my mouse button the second the Blizzard logo appeared, and it worked. No idea what happened.

Same here. In 90% cases game immediately freezes and crashes during the Blizzard logo. Tested on two computers. A fix would be nice

I delete the localpref.txt from the Documents/Diablo4 and it seems to fix it, but I have to delete it every single time or it freezes or crashes.

^^ what is the file and what happens when it is deleted or renamed? how would this fix the issue? I'm willing to try it but just trying to understand what I'm tampering with.

and yes, I am getting splash screen crashes too. today I can't get into game at all, I've had 4 in a row. usually it was just one a day, on my first attempt

Deleting the file did seem to "fix" it, I'm just worried that something else is broken now.. what was the file for?! lol...
