There is an open world, with stuff to do, sorta like a mmo, but *spoiler* its killing mobs in various forms.
Its worth it at a steep discount for the campaign (you can youtube it i guess), but the ARPG part of this game is painfully mid. If you dont know what im talking about, the games for you.
Oh and they plan on yearly paid expansion and seasonal battle passes.
There is absolutely no social interactions in game, NO MATCHMAKING for dungeons absolutely nothing. End game is also just repeating dungeons at higher difficulties thats it. No raids, no unique end game activities and no new stories.
For the base game, you can create a single character and play through the entirety of the journey as them.
For seasonal / optional content, the game will want you to create a new character with only some of your progress transferring (e.g., an option to skip the main campaign to jump into the seasonal story, experience that, and if you don't care about the battle pass or the seasonal mechanics, can ditch that character and go back to your main).
Edit: You do not have to group with anyone at any point to complete the game story. You will have to have a persistent internet connection.
