Still need to create a Bnet account?
I only want to manage one steam account and that's all. I don't want to have to go create bnet accounts separately. Is it difficult for steam and companies like Blizzard or EA to work accounts out between themselves instead of players having to create accounts on both steam and those other gaming companies? I have deleted my bnet accounts and many other accounts for this very reason. There are simply too many accounts of all sort to manage...

it's online only, how else would you play it

Steam can create bnet account for you and maintain it for you. I don't have to know and manage those accounts between steam and other gaming companies. That's what I mean.

that won't work as bnet backend requires authentication by blizzard accounts, not steam

steam can't just "create" that account for you, there are laws against that

As I said, it's between steam and blizzard. Steam has done authentication when people login to steam. Steam can do authentication for players to Blizzard. How do they do that? They can work it out.

no they can't, there are legal issues with that

What are you talking about? There's no real reason why blizzard can't support steam authentication like the vast majority of other games out there. Hell, final fantasy 14 - a real MMO rather than an ARPG with a live service layer grafted on - supports steam authentication despite the "laws you've made up."

You could've made one in the time it took you to write this thread

ff14 requires square enix account

"All editions of the game require user registration. All editions of the game other than the Free Trial require an active paid subscription to play."

Battle.net supports authentication via Facebook and Google, what's different about steam?

It does but once you've created it, you never need to login again because steamauth takes care of it for you.

For example, when people buy a game on steam, steam should create a bnet account for you and keep it for you. Players do not have to know its existence. When people login and play it on steam, steam authenticates it for them to blizard since they already were able to login to steam and pass authentication. All players need is one single steam account.

uh yeah and once you create bnet account it also auto logs you in

what you're asking for is already how it works, it still requires the respective third account regardless

True. You just link your bnet account to steam once and it remembers you for all Blizzard games

Exactly. Plenty of other games implement this and games that do support it and change their mind (payday 3) rightly get beaten on by the community.
