massive download size for patch??

hey gang. i have diablo iv purchased through steam, installed on my steam deck. the patch *says* it's only 3gb, but then my steam deck fusses at me for lack of disk space and doesn't download the patch. so i cleared off 100+gb, and now the patch download says it's **60gb** and is downloading. just one question:

why on earth is the patch 60gb?!?

(this happened the last time it patched as well, fwiw.)

the patch is 3gb download but it patches all game data which means it requires at least 100gb free space to update and since you didn't have enough space, your installation was corrupted

thanks for the response, and please pardon my ignorance:

so every time they push even a small patch, i have to keep 100gb free on my drive?? this does not seem normal. (i have never had another game do this.)

yes, it requires that much for the unpacking/repacking process

Yeah...this sucks!
Some of us don't have over 200GB to dedicate to one game (that's about 100GB), when the patch should be just a few gigabytes.

This is not normal...it is ridiculous, quite frankly.

100gb isn't "double" as the game is 85gb

you should have at least 100gb free regardless as filling up your drive to the brink is damaging to its lifespan
