Hey, thanks for sharing! I actually agree with a lot of your points in regards to naked runs and learning the mechanics of the game more, essentially a Soulslike/Fighting Game mentality - practice makes perfect. While I completely understand and agree, I also think there's room to grow in the RPG systems and NPC (Crafting) systems of the game. As it stands, this game is advertised as a PvPvE Extraction RPG. Gear has stats and affixes that can considerably empower a player, so your point being "purple gear doesn't significantly enhance another player," doesn't really sit well with me.
While it's true, any geared player can absolutely get outplayed by a more skilled player, if a geared player is truly geared with endgame kits, it will take said skilled player a lot more skill to down them if running with lower tier gear, that's just how loot-based RPGs function and work.
So I guess what my point is, is that maybe there can be some sort of middle ground in regards to progression, because as someone who works and doesn't have time to do constant naked runs to get potential middling rewards for slow base building (Synduality: Echoes of Ada suffers from this exact thing as well), then regardless of how skilled I am at the game, as soon as I die and lose everything aside from the handful of items in my safety pouch, my time feels wasted and I have to turn the game off to go to work.
If players feel progress is a slog and considerable grind to get through, and there's not enough systems that feel permanently rewarding, then the problem still stands that the game just isn't enjoyable.
I hope this makes sense and doesn't come off condescending or pretentious, I just truly like the idea of this game and want to succeed for everyone playing it :)
EDIT: I forgot to mention the importance of class balancing and combat fluidity. No one likes it when it feels like one or two classes are stronger than the others, whether they are playing teams or solo. And no one enjoys clunky movement or sluggish combat. I truly believe the devs need to focus on these two aspects before any system changes, properly ensuring all classes feel equally strong and fun to play, as well as ensuring the combat is fast (or at least smooth/fluid), responsive, and everyone has a chance at succeeding when engaging fights (stun on certain characters is insane compared to others!)
Your gear is just a way, not the end :)
Thanks guys, have fun !
Can you describe your issue in like 200 words, I ain't reading all that? Then maybe I can give advice.
I hope this isn't just another cash grab early access title, there truly is a lot of potential here if they just figure out the best ways possible to balance progression, classes, and combat.
That's good because green gear on a warrior is op, look em up on YouTube, they take almost no damage in pvp
I FULLY understand that everyone's gaming skill levels are drastically different and how they integrate in new games. But I started about 9 days late and had killed people in green/blue sets sometimes with all white gear or a little green. On rogue first, but then hunter as well. Some matches I killed a rogue, warrior and another hunter for example.
Warriors are DEFINITELY not balanced lmao, I don't disagree that there is work to be done in order to make combat feel more integrity based and rewarding.
But I dont personally find it as drastic as many make it, and every time I lose all my stuff. I remember all the times I made someone else lose all theirs. But if thats far more often the person in question, and rarely killing others. I would wager its not just the gear... And I dont mean that meanly, I am just basing it off what I see on corpses. I kill 2-7 people every extraction and ive yet to see even one purple, the best ive seen is like 3 blues on a player at one time. And YES that does make a notable difference. But its kinda rare, at least in my matches.
Some of my hardest fights, are against other skilled players who are wearing little to nothing. Ive even been the guy who gets wrecked by one while im wearing green/blue mixed.
Just food for thought and being honest about my perception, without being short/rude/toxic. Or the opposite, a yes man.
Maybe they could have an MMR system, or a system for characters of lower levels, or a queue where there is better loot in the world. Which would entice the more hardcore risky players to go in. These would be fun/nice additions, regardless of how bad the gear/progress problem is or is not.
PS: Math in question.... 15 lines x 14 words per line = Rough estimate + a few extra for the last line being smaller.
And they don't care why...? So far they are being very constant updating the game and even acknowledging in their devblogs any current issues within the game, etc and what's gonna come in the future.
I wouldn't say those are the actions of devs that don't care about their game.
