By default the game usually plays with WASD. You should be able to configure the keys clicking Control.
Oh the demo? A miscommunication there. I thought you were referring to the full game . At this point I can say without any doubt that the full games's worth every penny. The playability is practically endless has it is with the (M)ap (E)ditor & Map Generation modes. Just a few bugs to iron out in the ME like the unresponsive erase button but can easily be remadeed by erasing many unwanted objects first.
