Am I supposed to be getting grilled hard solo'ing dungeons?
Title. I'd imagine my build does suck since I'm prioritising variety rather than putting any points into attack or health, but at level 15 with a few epic pets that fit my deck it still feels like I'm suffering chronic skill issue.

WAKFU had this problem for a VERY long time, even after dungeon keys were removed, until they added and further reworked the stasis system (though you still realistically needed a premium pet on top of the freebie Astrub Knight). Is mandatory dungeon coop still the same situation here?

As an aside, is there any way to 'set' your level lower a la Wakfu to the competitive level, rather than raising the dungeon level itself? Though to be frank I'm not sure which is more balanced.

It's a strategy game. You should acquire the gear you need for your build and execute it. I've solo'd both the level 10 and 14 dungeons while being at or within 5 levels.

Honestly, make friends. Doing dungeons with someone else is worth the single buffed unit.

What Zero said is pretty much true. I made a new Iop and solod the entire crackler island mission line (not the dungeon) and went from level 1 to around 14 or so, beating the level 20 mission albeit near dead. I later on went to the whisper dungeon and got absolutely wrecked by the I think fourth island missions which was level 11 normally, raised to me simply due to their mechanics.

It could be that the deck you put together doesn't gel all that well with itself, or that the equipment you have isn't all that great, or even that you need to simply respec and put a single point into that nice +50% HP instead of the small buffs. There's lots of ways but don't worry, you've got this :D

Note: Enemies in dungeons do not scale as well as you do but the exp level scales just fine. If you are having trouble with certain dungeon levels, don't be afraid to lower the tier of the fight so you can get more exp to level up more spells and the like. Sometimes it might even be good to not level sync a new tier of fights as the next tier might be easier for you to fight (a la, whispers disarm mechanic)

doing dungeons solo is hard, especially if you don't really understand your character or haven't found the right one for you. Even doing dungeons with another player 1 of you has a very high chance of dying especially if you are trying to complete a challenge and can't just outright murder the enemies in anyway. The best thing to do is join up with a few people since you all get rewarded the same so there are really not many cons to coop

Thanks for the advice. I'm juse used to mid 2010's Wakfu completely obliterating solo players, so I didn't know if I was suffering brain rot or not. 6-7 enemy groups were practically a death sentence even with two fully geared sidekicks back then.

Very fortunate that the respect - at least for now - is affordable enough to spam. A shame that there's no way to assign certain skill trees to each of your three decks right now, though.

It all depends on who to play with, most characters start working only from level 15, some even turn into annihilating unkillable monsters from level 30 (Scalpel - easily destroys enemies 20+ levels above him BUT fails almost all challenges due to his passive ability). Well, some are quite weak even at level 30, since their passive abilities are inferior in strength to other characters of their class.
With regards to character development, I strongly recommend spending the first 50 levels on pumping Health and Attack - Since items and spells are extremely difficult to level up due to random drops.

It's a known issues that current Waven has balancing problems. A certain class are way OP than some other and some simply can't perform as well due to how they built that AP system. So i wouldn't recommend going hardcore learning the game mechanism for now because what you've learnt might get changed in the future patch, either buffed or nerfed or "rebalanced" as the devs like to call it... Ankama is infamous for this anyway.

And how we get stronger in this game is totally based on the loot box system (which itself, creates a huge imbalances of power). So we are at the mercy of RNG on how our characters get stronger and more powerful. Luck is required to advance in this game. The lucky ones advanced faster, the unlucky ones might get stuck at places for a long time due to lack of upgrades and proper gears/spells. (Which simply means, hard work in this game doesn't always paid off, and there's a high chance that your time will be wasted due to an unlucky RNG roll)

You're correct that we're at the mercy of RNG in regards to what we get from chests, but each class excels at different things. My recommendation is find a map that is a balance between difficulty, time to clear, and challenge rewards. Personally my sram is sitting in Bwork X farming ~20k exp for a 4 minute or less fight and completing 9/10 challenges every time. I started at Bwork III and got chests there until I could comfortably take X.

The game isn't that hard.
