Is there a way to restart or delete your game save file?
I did something really stupid. :berserk:

There's a lot of decision making and experimenting involved in this game, which isn't really helped when you start off with limited character slots and the tutorial decides to not mention anything about it.

I'd also be interested in doing that. Or even allowing multiple User IDs from the same PC. I'd love to be able to play this game seriously on my account, but also give my (quite) young son an account to play with.

You can run in on another user account on ur pc/laptop. It's a different marvel save even though it's the same Steam account. This also means that you can move the save file and start over on your main user account. Just delete the demiurge studios folder under user/appdata/local and paste the demiurge folder from the other user account. Make sure you check view hidden folders and files to see the appdata folder. :D I started over and spent every hero point on roster space instead of wasting on that stupid chanced covers.

OH, and make sure you click the skip tutorial tab under options or it'll force you to purchase stuff again.

****Finally figured it out***** do the following, go to program files, steam, steamapps, common, marvel puzzle quest, data ..... open client settings and change the SaveGameFilename="mpq_save.dat" to SaveGameFilename="mpq_save.da" save and then start the game through steam....!!!!!

None of the methods in here worked for me, this is taking a piss. Been reinstalling and making new steam accs but seems like this game`s save file is bound to your soul.

Same as Chi. Came here trying to restart my game but none of the above methods worked.

I'm not sure why some people are saying these things work. The game is locked to your hardware ID for that PC. Doesn't matter how many user accounts you make or what you delete locally

The moment you connect a fresh game to the remote games server it will download your saved game and you'll be back exactly where you were

It's stopping me buying into the game, just messing about with it for free until thats fixed

Some people say it works because for some people it does. It worked for me. In fact, I've restarted a couple times already, now.

Create a new user profile on your computer...under it, start MPQ. You can do this under your regular steam account (make sure you log out of steam in your main profile, first). Like Chrisna says, when it starts, make sure you click Skip Tutorials in the options (but you can also do this later, after the new game files are transferred). Start the quest. Skip the intro and get as far as when the actual fight with Doom starts, then quit (I use ALT-F4). (I think I tried once killing it while it was still in the intro and it didn't work.) Log off the new user profile and go back to your main. Browse to your user/appdata/local and rename your demiurge studio folder to whatever your current profile is called. Then browse to the new user profile's user/appdata/local and copy the demiurge folder there and copy it into your main. When you start, it should start you with the first Doom battle.

The game account seems to be locked to a combination of machine & user profile name, not just the machine.

Hope this helps!

I didn't mean to call anyone out, it just doesn't make sense that it would work for some and not others but I believe you. I don't really want want to go making new accounts and losing all the settings I have just for one game

I hope they fix it, Steam is after all a great place to allow that to happen and have everyone get the update automatically

? You can create a new user profile for the sole purpose of generating new game files and then delete the profile after you migrate them. You will want to be semi-conscious of the name you choose for the profile, though, since I believe (don't know for sure, but highly suspect) that that name will stick as your in-game identification. In any case, there's no loss of settings to your main user profile. That's the whole reason for moving the new files over...because I suppose you could play a new game under the new profile...but yeah, I agree that it wouldn't be worth it.

I hope they fix it, too. It's a silly hassle. But it is possible. The best test to see if this work for you is to create a new user profile (using a name you have never used before)...start the game...and see if it starts from the beginning. If it doesn't, well...you're outta luck. If it does, you are primed to move the files to your main user account and play from there.

I made a new steam account. I mistakenly thought you meant a new windows user account. Anyway, made new steam account name, logged in, ran the game and it was using the same save, no new game.

So what it looks like to me is some people can do any one of these work arounds and have it work, the delete save game, change accounts etc. while others (like me) it doesn't matter what you do.

I can't work out why that is. Still hoping for a solution. They are well aware of the problem so I guess its up to them now. My money is waiting to spend on this but not with a game I've made a mess of.

Seems a bit dumb and I understood the person above about how to reset the game.. Ill explain this in a easier way.. Make a new user on PC, Then switch to that user.. Do not need to log out of your other user to do this.. Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Marvel Puzzle Quest\Binaries\PC\Ship" (Where ever you have steam installed". Run the game once.. Turn off tutorials in options (Optional). Quit the game then go to "C:\Users\YOURNEWUSERNAME\AppData\Local" and copy the folder "Demiurge Studios" and place it in any folder you can get to on your main user account.. Switch back to old user, copy the folder and overwrite the "Demiurge Studios" in "C:\Users\YOURFIRSTUSERNAME\AppData\Local".. Start game and enjoy fresh start
