If you ever wanted to roleplay as Jawa with a few inches using a blaster and scavenging for whatever junk you could use in your arsenal, well now is your chance.

It Comes in Waves is a short survival simulation game where we have to transverse through a foreign desert to find an unknown destination but a destination you must find nonetheless to deliver an unknown specimen. The goal of this game is to find a delivery hotspot and sustaining your water percentages which are constantly depleting, so you need to be on top of your game to find water supply scattered across the map or from enemies you encounter so you don't lose your main health gradually. During this process, you'll find your specimen is growing very slowly over time so you'll need to enhance its growth span by finding serums which is very important as you can't finish this game until the specimen has fully grown.

As you can tell there aren't any tedious resources you have to juggle like sprinting, food or even oxygen you may find in other games which is a breath of fresh air for once. Making this game a comforting experience to not be distracted to appreciate the scenery of the outer space sky and the low poly style aesthetic of the desert.

It is also pretty forgiving with the water supply distribution and it does help the map isn't randomly generated so each time you restart it you don't have to worry about getting lost. Plus there are some recognizable architects I found out I didn't need to use the map in my second playthrough knowing where I was going.

The strategy of It Comes in Waves is being smart with managing your resources and patience enough to wait for the specimen to grow 100% before you can enter the final destination.

The gunplay feels decent enough, I just wish there were more weapon options and the animation for jumping to feel less janky. Still, it doesn't take away from the simple and effective gameplay that made it my high recommendation for anyone to play to experience this immersive world. As for me, I'm excited to try this developer's other games.

A simple game, it took me about an hour to complete. I found it worthwhile. It is simple, and it has a point, and it has a story to tell.

Not saying this game is bad, I actually really enjoyed my time with it but I can see why some people would not. Without spoiling any of the plot, you are basically trying to grow and deliver a specimen to a sanctuary in a desert. The story had me intrigued enough to see it through to the end. Although, you can't really take your time because you need water and it constantly ticks down as soon as you press start, exploration around the world was fun. It was nice to see a change in scenery as you progressed. Enemies are pretty basic, will either stand there and shoot or just run away fighting other NPCs.

TL:DR If you got a spare 3 bucks and 30-45 minutes, are in the mood for an interesting walking sim with some light combat and a thirst mechanic give it a shot

This game is kinda bizarre and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s just different than most games. I don’t quite see why people call it a “Masterpiece” or “Beautiful”, but it does have a really good soundtrack. I still had fun with it though. Definitely not worth more than $2

This game has a very special place in my heart.

All of Antonio games, have this kind of thing of where, each one has something unique that shines and gets stuck with you, and 'It Comes In Waves' is no different, and is probably my favorite of them all.

It's been years since I've lost the love of my life, and personally, I don't think it's getting any better, but this game touched my soul, it represented in a artistic way, what grief is, in a way that can only be done through a video game.

And the game is completely accurate. After I lost her, my world became dull, tasteless, like I had lost half of me, the entire world feels like one huge desert ever since. Unwanted, guilty, I feel like an outcast, wandering through an empty land on automatic mode, eating and drinking water just to survive. Where the only thing keeping me company are strangers and the sound of nature.

Other people don't get it, they think that it's easy or that I should live for myself but, I can't. I can't forget, I can't hide what she meant to me, I can lie and smile and make jokes and tell that everything is alright, when deep down, I feel desolated. The only person that truly loved me, the only person that understood how I am as a person, is now gone.

And even in the end of the world, I would still walk, I would still celebrate what she did to me and I would still, grow a flower in her memory, it is the least that, I, a person still alive, can do.

Pretty interesting. I don't think I "got" what it was going for, but I would like to support as many experimental games as I can. Very beautiful, stressful, and intriguing within only ~30 minutes

Made me feel things.

This is a beautiful piece of work, with impressive atmosphere and sound, and a moving theme. Is it a little unforgiving? Yes. Are the controls a little janky? Sometimes, but nothing too bad. I loved it, honestly.

This is my first game i ever played of yours, I got it on sale for cheap a while ago. I love this game, the environments, and just the overall vibe of it. The low poly style just brings everything together into a wonderful piece.

Took me 30 minutes to beat on the first go and actually made me feel something at the end.
