Golem/Juggernaught are solid, Assassin/Thief are good.
Surround the starting item with 5 of the cross bows that takes 6 slots. (Put them one above and below the starting item faceing one way, one inbetween those two, and two on the opposite side.)
The 1st starting item increases adjacent weapon's base damage for every 2 recovery and the 6 slot cross bow has the fastest attack speed (making for a ridiculous combo.)
Then just get as much recovery and attack speed as you can with 1-2 piercing and you can murder any basic enemy (within range) on spawn and have a ton of healing from Recovery to face the elites and the final boss. (and of course get some extra exp, resource, and more enemy spawn items for waves 1-19.)
Focus on Throwing Daggers, the best non-unique weapon in the game by far.
Berserker with Sickle and Wolf's Fang (stack armor + vitality + any weapons really)
Thief with Hit List and 9 Throwing Weapons
Priestess with 4 Automatic Crossbows and Angel wing (forget defenses stack recovery, get 3 pierces)
Dual Swords ... +45 attack speed when stationary on 4+ other weapons, including other dual swords ... the issue usually is you do not have the space. Scholar does not have that issue. They are also a combine 2 item, so you basically want all of them.
Ceremonials add superior lifesteal for the slots used.
Ebonies scale silly [base damage, like melee and signet ring]. Combined Ebonies combine the kills from all 3 weapons (new in this patch). Rapiers also scale silly [magic]. Both have exceptional base attack speed, which gets silly with scholar.
Once money is solid (+100 resource is good) shift priority to buying all the mirrors (skip scrolls) for xp, luck, and +monster%. Once inventory slots are maxed, sell all xp items and refocus on dmg -> many ways to scale, play the RNG.
how many spaces open to u keep vs items?
which starting item are you using?
how many weapons r u using at once?
I am not really having that much problem with $$$ but the damage is horrible compared to other classes so most of the time I have a real issue starting around wave 10 on difficulty 5 (i have not seen an ebony or ceremonial in the last 2 runs, and i dont have enough damage to stand still even with multiple dual swords, also I just did another run with no dual swords)
I know this CAN work (pretty much all characters can) but it so shop reliant with little money its very inconsistent for me.
Doing the exact same thing on almost any other class seems better.
I feel like im missing something.
2. I fill any space I can, keeping in mind that empty space is worth 2 attack speed. Empty is better then super weak items. If resource/barrel Items have been rare, I sometimes have 15 or so empty.
3. None of the starting items are great. Signet works well with small items that scale well (Ebonies, etc). Tome gives you 10% attack speed/earlier spaces. I'd say signet has more long term potential and Tome makes the early game cleaner. Neither is that much better then selling them for 50.
4. Entering floor 10, I am using 10-12/40% of my inventory, on average. Entering floor 20, 15ish/40% of my inventory.
Scholar, meta, is: ~twice the inventory of other classes, +50% prices of goods (not rerolls).
Early Phase - Make use of cheap items effectively and improve your income to make up for the cost penalty.
Middle Phase - Explosive growth until you hit max inventory slots (192, approx 12-15th floor, depending on RNG).
End Phase - Whatever, then see how many seconds it takes the last boss to melt this time.

The Boltgun/Crossnado/King Stick were just for fun - the Rapiers/Staffs alone were enough.
There are a few powerful items/combos missing (super crits, spearhead, and holy box).
Lifesteal cluster or supercrits AND either +movement or -movement are enough meta scaling, the rest is cake.
