Rapiers are not swords?
So, doing a little Butcher run and got a good greatsword into my inventory.

Each adjactent SWORD gives +5 health. Works with the shortsword, good, gets shown in the info card. But my two bloodsucking rapiers don't add the bonus, why?

Rapiers are swords, simple as that. You can easily tell, what an axe is as it is with Knives, easy. Polearms have luckily the polearm trait. So, what is the excuse for the Rapier?

If you wanna get weird about it, a rapier is technically a sword, because it's a blade with a hilt and guard. Generally, though, you wouldn't classify a regular sword and rapier together because a sword is usually a slashing weapon, and a rapier is a thrusting/piercing weapon. They are both one-handed weapons, but their functions are different.

itemization tags, that's how it works in rpg elements, for balance & item differentiation
so, you asked why rapier is not treated as a sword in the game
Katana is a sword. Then why scimitar is not sword in this game?
Why dual blade is not considered as 2 weapons for a certain item?
Why a long sword affects your armor?

See? Stuff got over-complicated if you seek too much realism in games

Except that Scimitar IS a sword if you ask a Short Sword. It's just Great Sword that thinks it's not a sword.

So however they're doing it, it's not by itemization tags. Presumably that's also why the throwing glaive doesn't count anything except other throwing glaives as throwing weapons.

Oh, my bad about "scimitar is a sword" thing
iirc Greatsword is not considered as a "blade" weapon either in this game, let's see what the dev is going to do in future update.

Guys, it's just a balance thing. If you have too many things with the same tag, then you get more stats when you're trying to build something. Gotta makes cuts here and there. Just accept it and don't whine about what something is labeled as. Just focus on the builds.

Dude, if we can't rely on the tags to make builds, because one weapon considers the other weapon not a weapon of the same kind, then it gets more unnecessary difficult.

Well, if the weapon has "sword" in it's name, then it is a sword. Rapier is not a "rapiersword".

---edit---

Longsword, short sword and great swords are swords, nothing else is. (if I remember correctly.)

Unless, as noted earlier, you ask the Short Sword. If you do, you get that Longsword, Short Sword, Great Sword, and Scimitar are swords.

There are two problems here.
1) Things which are obviously in some category when you ask a human, aren't.
2) The tags on weapons are apparently not related to whether or not they'll trigger something that supposedly counts that category.

The first problem is annoying. The second is a MAJOR bug. When an item says "does {thing} based on adjacent {tag} items" but it actually just has an internal list that doesn't match the list of things that have that tag, it's STUPID.

If Scimitar is a sword, it should always be a sword. If it's not a sword, it should always not be a sword.
If a throwing axe is a throwing weapon, it should always be a throwing weapon. If it's not, it should always not be a throwing weapon. Same for throwing knives.
etc...
