What class did you use to unlock the 60% lifeleech character?

Finding it hard to get that amount of lifeleech if the vampire's heart item doesn't drop. Had a ton of leech gloves and weapons with Vile but only managed to get to around 35-40%

Like you said, gloves + leech weapons are the way. Just try stacking them (and play tetris with the small sickles for the extra leech).

Also try using the lifeleech weapon set. Some scythes or lifeleech rapiers might help you get there.

I find singularist is pretty good for achievement hunting, since you can just have the one weapon, and then all the rest of your space can go to relevant items.

You can use the Crimson Scythes 8 of those will give you 60% by themselves

Play higher difficulty. More mobs spawn so you get more money which means more rolls on the shop.

Stack Crimson Scythes since you get bonus 2% leech for having them next to each other. If so I recommend using Lancer - Field Keeper hero since she only get polearm weapons.

As for me I unlocked by pure chance by getting a load of those life steal cubes and a heart.

I recommend just playing on the highest difficulty that you can beat because of more mobs for money, and don't underestimate the luck stat, you should have a healthy amount of luck to roll into higher rarity items in general. I commonly end runs with about 40-50% life leech because it scales dmg aswell. The class doesn't really matter, whatever makes you beat up more mobs.

Use ebony daggers for damage (they permabuff their damage every 20 kills they get during a run), then just grab as many lifesteal gloves, effigys, wings, and other small boosts. If you find the vampire heart and that lifesteal crown too, you're laughing. Range helps too.

Vile with the scythe spam. I ended up getting nearly 100% lifesteal by the end of the d4 run.

Actually, having just gotten it, I would say Souldrinker is easiest, since he can lifesteal even when at full health. A bunch of lifesteal plus a high speed crossbow and I had it by around floor 15.

I'm pretty sure you can't even play as Souldrinker until you get this achievement first, because this achievement is what unlocks the Aristocrat class category. Which means Vile (Warlock) is your best bet, or otherwise Thief with lifesteal items stacking.

I'm not sure though, I've just unlocked it today with Vile, but before I got this achievement I didn't have any Aristocrat classes available, and Souldrinker is one of these classes in the Aristocrat category.

I unlocked it with the vile warlock as well - you get ridiculous lifesteal
