Comunicar un error de traducción
Anyway. When did this error occured? Did you try to apply the latest beta patch to it? Or did Steam try to update it?
As soon as I try start the game, a message pops up with that says "An error occurred while updating Europa Universalis: Rome - Gold Edition (Unknown Error)" I think the error message is generated by steam. That is really all that happens. I deleted Vae Victis but that didn't chance anything.
I assume steam did try to update something yes. I'll look into this beat patch you mentioned.
Because i'm not sure but i don't think the beta patch would help you if you can't even get the game running.
I would also mention that Paradof has itsown forums paradoxplaza or something like that. I don't know how active Rome forum is at the moment but that would also be the best place to get help or find answers. I think.

There you get the beta patch. Try to apply that.
Also, what specifications your harware has and what operating system does it run?
You know, that seems to have solved the problem. Which is weird considering the nature of the error, but I know when to count my blessings.
