Please let us put 1 bullet directly into the chamber
pull back slide, press slide lock, insert bullet, release slide lock or pull slide again

Clearly you have no idea how guns actually work.
lotuspulse 29 Thg04, 2013 @ 4:31pm
Keeping in mind the weapon has to be completely empy with no magazine inserted
Ahroovi 29 Thg04, 2013 @ 4:32pm
Clearly you don't. Yesterday I did this exact thing to my Keltec P3AT, S&W M&P9 and my S&W M&P15 Sport. Don't act like you know what you're talking about if you don't. But to the OP, put magazine in gun, charge gun, take mag out and put another round in it. While it would add to the realism to chamber one manually, it is impractical.
lotuspulse 29 Thg04, 2013 @ 4:34pm
Yeah I know you can do that, but we might as well be able to load this way too in the event we start with no magazines or something

In real life this could potentially wear out the extractor if done repeatedly since it gets forced over the rim of the casing, but this is a video game and no one cares about extractors.
Mercutian 29 Thg04, 2013 @ 10:06pm
This should be possible.

Is this awkward to do with pistols? I've only ever done this with my bolt-action and my breach-action, both of which are more or less suited for this type of top-off.

its possible and easier with some types of pistols than others. Something like the glock with iots 2/3rd cut ejeciton port might require you to actually push the round into the chamber before letting the slide go as it might fall out. 1911's in this case with their near 1/4 cut ejection port you really only need to drop it into the port and let it run forward. In some cases, with some pistols, the chamber might be a little to... intricate to allow you to just drop a round in, but as CrunkCow said, it does wear on the extractor unnecessarily.

Edit- Also, I assume you MIGHT run the risk of detonation out of battery if something on the boltface stikes the primer a little too hard, but ive done it without problem.

EditEdit- the droppingthe round in and disengaging the slide stop to chamber the round would only work if you had the empty mag in, lest you want the roudn to fall out the magwell onto the floor. =D

@Ezekiel, alright, I'll test this out with some dummy rounds when I get my hands on my Hi-Point .40sw. It'll be interesting to see if it is practical at all, and how its design either facilitates or encumbers this type of reload.

Well there is actually a gunsmith on wolffire forums that evaluates the realism of the guns. I read it a long time ago so sorry if I am extremely wrong it's just something I heard. The 1911's loading mechanism doesn't allow to be top loaded without jamming the gun or something messing up. I get why you would want to do that for an easier +1 ammo count but the realism of the mechanics is what this game is going for. Hell I've sunk hours into this game I can't seem to get all the tapes.
Ralph Nader 2 Thg05, 2013 @ 4:44am
Getting the +1 is easy enough..
Chamber a round, drop the mag, holster the gun, refill the mag, take your gun out and put it back it.
I do it whenever I find myself with more than one magazine worth of ammo in this game, it takes like 2 seconds.

On the topic of realism though
When you try top loading like that with these box magazine fed auto pistols they don't close completely and you could potentially damage your gun. It's like a $10 fix depending on the gun but why would you want to waste that money?

I'd waste it if it would save my life :))

Yeah. This is a game and it already seems like youre in a desparate situation. But I've never run into that problem where I needed a reload in combat. Once it happened but I went and ducked into a bathroom and loaded up a new magazine.

I love how scarce ammo can be. I love that feeling of, "These four bullets have to last me through the next engagement".

In a real-life situation if you were a person who carries a weapon, you wouldn't just have a pocket full of loose ammo. You would have it in your magazine. Even people that prefer revolvers have speed loader clips if they feel like they would need more than 5 or 6 shots. You would have absolutely no reason to load it from the top and attempt to smash it shut and screw up the extractor.

So I'll repeat this,
Chamber a round, drop the mag, holster the gun, refill the mag, take your gun out and put it back it.
Two seconds, enjoy.
