It is worth noting that this MOD includes a patch to the game code which enables the game to run considerably smoother than Vanilla (by eliminating some over-active function calls).

Really good stuff.

How do you install it. I put the mod in the games folder and overwrote everything but the game fails to start.

Do I need to download both links?

Disable automatic updating, then put in the base mod then the other one into data

Because it says to do it on the page, so just do it. (it won't be updated in like 2 years trust me)

Yes you need to download the base package and an update package. Both links are next to each other. You must install the base package (older) first, then the update (newer).

im having trouble with the recent update folder it wont seem to play. the base files work for me and i disabled the automatic updates but the recent update folders wont ply for me can anybody help?

Add the newest folders into the data folder not the same one where you pasted the base one

This mod is fantastic, and has greatly increased my performance. Previously I could barely run on 1024x768, now I can run okay on 1280x800. Also, the added guns are pretty fricken awesome too. They should sticky this thread.

Steam will detect your files are inconsistent with the ones that are in their system, and will automatically revert them back.

Lucky you, but it happened to other people, so skipping this step isn't recommended.
