SImply retcon it till it works
That is what George does.
Continuity was/is not of exactly extreme importance
Is kind of a shame that WB owns it and the Devs could not do more with it.
Lot of movie gap areas where one could jump back and write some decent game material.
Time between max 1 and road warrior
Time after road warrior but before thunderdome
Huge chunk of time between thunderdome and fury road
Could have made some good DLC material
Scabrous Scrotus is the main antagonist of the game.
He is actually one of the sons of Immortan Joe, the antagonist of Mad Max Fury Road.
So the game cannot take place before Immortan Joe is set. The fact that Max is being chased by warboy at the beginnin of the game is plausibly because Max was involved into the killing of Immortan Joe too. That could explain why Scrotus is himself involved into the hunt of someone who just stole gasoline for his car. That makes more sense.
But, anyway, each story about Mad Max has a lot of problems with each story. The best argument made to explain that is because we're not eperiencing the thruth of the stories, just what people are actually telling to each others about that. That is why there are so much contradictions between versions.
Well George freely retcons as needed to make a given story work, but only 1 max is seemingly told from the view point of max.
the second one is told from the fading memories of a feral boy, now an old man.
The Third told by Savanna Nix at some point afterwards, and passed on to the others via tells.
And we know how their memberance of the tells goes.
So at some point Max passes on from simple reality into legend.
And realistically, by Fury Road, Max Rockatansky is probably dead and gone on to join Jessie and Sprog
Most plausible thing there is that some young pup he had rescued and taught to survive, after his passing, has taken up his mantle and in doing so kept the legend alive.
Makes more sense than a 75 / 80 year old Max
