Steam don't block GMG, HumbleBundle or GOG.
There's always rumor that you could lose your key but it never happens, and even if it did you'd be protected so long as you paid the extra dollar for the buyer's protection.
Sites like these wouldn't be a thing if publishers stopped overpricing games that clearly don't have sixty dollars worth of content/are awful PC ports. I refuse to pay full price for PC games because I'm tired of being kicked below the belt and I think almost every grey market customer is too
I'm not condoning grey markets, but sites like GMG are only useful when the coupons actually go through. They sometimes don't and so you'll get a game for ten dollars cheaper, yet all of these other places have them for like 66-75% off. In comparison it's hard to want to buy from them, legit or not
The fact they sell this "insurance" just goes to show how unstrustworthy they are.
Steam does not block GMG, HumbleBundle, GamersGate or GOG. Legit sites don't sell keys bought with stolen credit cards or keystrippers.
The protection is primarily in case they accidentally give you a key that was already activated. I've never heard of anyone ever getting a game yanked off of their account unless it was blatantly stolen
I'm not saying those sites or legit or whatever. I'm just saying paying 20 dollars for a full-price game is such a better deal than paying 60 dollars for it if and when it turns out to be a disaster of a port
It certainly has happened before - Sniper Elite III, Natural Selection 2 and Ubisoft games come to mind. Buying games shouldn't be a gamble, the fact is, those sites profit from illegal keys. That's why they sell this "protection".
Can you type the link with spaces or at least site name?
