THE BIG NOTHING?
Anyone know what it is? from what I heard in the videos it sounds like when you leave the map's boarders there is an infanite desert with lots of hard enemies and good loot. Sounds awesome, put the perfect war machine to work seeing how far you can go into the wasteland

Still though, I would like to some dangerous area where there are tough enemies to fight and test your skills on once the game is done but I do see your point. Also we don't know if enemies respawn or reenter the area in some way.

Does the thunderdome work? Because we get a thunderdome. ALSO There is a giant vehicle death arena

Open world games have limited choices as far as stopping you from leaving its boarders. Some go for high impassable mountains. Some like GTA5 set the game on an island. Seems like they have chosen a desert that one shots you here. Even if this high level area exists I don't want to see cars exploding like loot pinatas. If I wanted that I would go and play Diablo.

Yeah, if I remember correctly Red Faction: Guerilla did this too which was one of my favorite open world games ever! :D

soft boarders are the way to go
This game is really going to test your limits and if they get the vr simulations going for this games it could almost be like real action
Speaking of VR, the consumer version of the Oculus Rift should be out some time next year. I have both Dev Kit 1 & 2 and will definitely be getting it, along with the fastest GPU I can get at that time to make sure everything works well.

Honestly, I'm affraid to get the Oculus Rift. I allready play enough video games, the addiction would probably destroy my life
i have no life my life is video games and only upgrading when ever i can get enough money and my pc can barly run gta 5 but i do plan on getting oculus rift
I am past the storm and in a relatively clear area. There's bumps here and there, as well as darken grooves in the ground every once in a while.
There is no loot.
Unless that was back in the storm.
In which case I need to turn my ass back and find it.
Is there some upgrade I need to drive around forever in the Big Nothing? After I got so far it drained my health really quickly and I died. Makes me feel like they lied about being able to keep driving forever.

I'm not sure they lied as I never saw them quote this. What I did see is lots of people on the forums banging on about this even when others were trying to tell them that this was an unrealistic expectation. That's the benefit of these forums. You can now go back and see who said what, unless they have deleted their posts. That's why I tend to quote as much as I do so as to retain evidence! :-)

I distinctly remember an interview from E3 with one of the devs and they said you could keep driving but it would get dangerous but there would be scrap out there to find.
Good catch! This might be one of those things that are open to interpretation. It's not always about what they say but what they don't say, for instance.
Here is a link to an article where the dev states “There are no finite limits to the map … in other words, there is no ‘one side,’” Avalanche’s senior producer John Fuller said in an interview with GamingBolt. “You can continue driving into The Big Nothing until you get bored or killed.”

So yes I can continue driving in the Big Nothing for maybe a few minutes and then I get killed, but that is long before I have a chance to explore things or get bored. Surely there is a way to survive longer in the Big Nothing, I just feel misled by the devs comments.

I don't think I drove into a storm, I think maybe it is a radiation thing or something. Your health just starts ticking down. It did not seem like a storm to me anyway.
