Can't do Big Chief race
That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ race is insane. I've tried it about twenty times, my own brother tried it several times. I've went in with full armor and engine, and tried it without all the armor and ramming (To improve the car's handling an acceleration). Nothing works. My car spins out at the slightest provocation, comes to a complete stop, and doesn't turn the way I need it to. When I need it to make a sharp turn, it lazily turns. When I need to turn softly, it makes a sharp turn into a wall which gives me another complete stop.

I've tried armoring back up and going the wrong way in hopes to ram the Big Chief as he circles around, and was given an automatic fail. I've tried waiting at the start track only to see the Big Chief stops and waits down the track, so I can't even wait for him.

Nothing works. I've tried every configuration of my car. I own most of the upgrades (Attained from purposefully holding off on doing this because I despise racing). But this just cannot be done.
Any tips? Tricks? Cheats?

It is maxed out. Sometimes killing the respawning cars will hurt me, as their firey corpses hits my car and, like everything else, causes me to spin out and come to a complete stop. I find it best to pick my battles. Hit them when I get ahead of them, or just continue driving past them (Since I'm faster, they're just in my way).

I had to do this a few times myself. Few things to realize, you can get one clear shot off at the Big Chief immediately at the start of the race. Do it. Next, your ammo constantly restocks, so always try and take shots at if you can. Doesn't matter if someone might end up eating it instead, you've got plenty of ammo.

I tried several configurations, and in the end what worked for me was scrapping the ram, going with medium armor, and making sure I had tires for asphalt not sand equipped. Then just knowing the course and when to slow down for turns. I personally was taking more damage being careless on the corners than I was from enemy vehicles.

You dont need a heavy ram for this. A mediumish armor should be enough.
Just drive save and shoot him with the Thunderpoon.
Booster upgrades could also be good, if u should crash.

Pretty much what I did as well. It's good to have a maxed ammo belt too. The race ends pretty quick when you've got 15 maxed thunderpoons. Ignore everyone else and just go for the Big Chief.

Going to play it differently for my second play-through.

It does? I hadn't even noticed. :)

Ignore my recommendation for maxed ammo belt then!

I had a hard time with it too, here's what I figured out that made it a "30 second win" :

1.) IMMEDIATELY when the race starts hit the Big Chief with a Thunderpoon. You have to do this immediately before the other cars zip in the way.

2.) IMMEDIATELY AFTER you fire it, hit the boost and try to get ahead of the 3 rear cars. As soon as your thunderpoon's cooldown expires, fire again as soon as you get another shot.

3.) Try to get ahead of the last car if he's still in the way. Don't rush to stay behind the Big Chief; he's slow so take your time on turns and just avoid hitting walls and other cars. As soon as your cooldown expires, hit him again.

4.) I think with maxed thunderpoon it only takes 4 hits, and if you managed the first 3 like this then the last one is a cinch.

What trips people up is getting distracted by the other cars, hitting walls and wasting time having to catch up, or the most common one never having a clear shot because your thunderpoon is on cooldown during optimum firing opportunnities.

Boost is maxed, like nearly everything else.

I'll take some of this in account. I already hit him immediately. I used to end up hitting a car (They sort of turn center) which still happens but I got the timing down and I get a free hit on him most of the time, now.

Use a PIT maneuver on the little cars and spam that thunderpoon on the boss. :MMExplotion:

PITing slows me down and I can't spam it on the boss because I almost never see the ♥♥♥♥♥♥. He's always a mile ahead and around corners.
I've gotten him down to like, one hit left. Once. ONCE. I'm getting better (After thirty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attempts) but I can still only get three to four hits on him. (Including the freebie at the start, which only works half the time).

Alright. I managed to get through it (After another several attempts). The "Medium armor, no ram" did the trick, and so did general careful driving. I also did spam my Thunderpoon on the lesser enemies and just rammed their corpses. My biggest enemy were the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ walls themselves so I just tried to avoid that.
I sorta got lucky on my victory run, I managed to remain closely behind Big Chief and managed to get my few hits in.

I read this thread because I had lost it trying to finish this level. I get back on, no car alterations from my standard setup, level 3 thunderpoons, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ handling and got it first time!
Method: got the first easy shot, boosted past everyone, avoided walls like the plague, saved ammo for the boss and took a shot at him whenever possible. I got 4 shots in but he was still alive and then it said I won... I guess he must have crashed but I couldn't care less because I didn't have to do this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ level anymore :)

I can do that race for anyone using their saves broadcasting over Steam. Using KB/M BTW.

You are right to boost repeatedly to get close to him as soon as possible. This is the biggest advantage you can have in this mission. You're always ahead of the other cars so they're not a factor. He's not fast so you can be carefull and avoid most of the dropkickers. Also, because he's not fast and you stick with him instead of having to catch up your pace is not so fast that you're banging walls. Don't worry about explosion damage because you can take plenty enough to hit him 4 times with the thunderpoon. I do it with level 3 boost and level 3 thunderpoon, level 1 ram and level 1 armour. Still takes me 3 or 4 tries. Mouse and keyboard.

Pro tip : Be faster than him. Don't mind armor, just take the lightest and RUSH. Once he's behind you, stay in front and spam.

Also, Keyboard ftw.

I know i'm late but this. a bunch of armor and a huge ram will slow you down and also make your car handle like trash.

Many good suggestions here (many which helped me) and I am sure by now you have either accomplished the race or sworn off the game forever, but I ended up here because I was having the same trouble and my eventual experience was that having no rammer, medium armor, full v6, 25% better thunderpoon, and I did get the best asphalt tires, that after all those races, all those races. Races where you're so close to getting stank gum with the poon and then some stupid ancillary ass vehicle gets in the way and turns you into the wall or veers you into a dropped mine. I get it. In the end I actually finished it within the first two minutes of race by getting lucky in not too much interference running into cars or getting rammed (blasting nitro a couple times) and every time the thunderpoon was ready to blow right clicking and slowing down the action and getting a shot on the big chief. When I finally won it was the shortest round I had run the race. Took about 5 thunderpoons as I recall. Sweet relief from that challenge.
