How the F do you abandon a mission??

Die/blow up your car. You'll be given the option to quit mission-it's a bit extreme but it works and you can have fun doing it.

Make sure you yell "WITNESS MEEEE!!!!" when you do it!

I'm stuck on a late mission that is in a closed area.

Not usually, I've had missions chug along in the background even across a logout. Admittedly that's on a Peasantbox with a different save/load system, but still...

Chasing Stank Gum around the arena? just blow up. You'll be given an option to continue or abandon the mission: abandoning won't cost you anything and will allow you to revisit that at a later stage.

Although in hindsight I wish that was the last mission; it's all down-hill after that :(

Dude, if you’re still worried about this, you don’t have to get the harpoon or tear down the gate right where you first drive up to get out of the car and just look for a ladder and start working your way up. You don’t actually go in there yet.👍🏾
