Stank Gum race at Gastown: unplayable
Any tips, setup, strategy or whatever to beat this extremely frustrating race?

You have infinite thunderpoons. Get behind Stank Gum and keep shooting.

make sure you have the maxed v6 a good amount of armor and it helps to get the ornaments that boost weapons other then that fires poons as soon as they are ready.

I've posted this before but I'll post it again.

Some tips: Go with light or medium armor, anything heavier is overkill.

Take the ramming grill off, you dont need it and this will imrove your cars performance.

You can get a free hit on Stank Gum right at the start by shooting him immediately.

If you fall behind and can't see Stank Gum anymore don't worry, you can catch up with him.

Always take the first right and then all lefts.

Always drive through the healling areas, they look like steam.

Dont shoot cars behind you as the game forces you to watch the explosion, usualy then causing you to creash.

Upgrade thunderpoons.

17 tries, finally done it with a slightly modified Speed Demon variant. Not Fun.

If you go right at the first (?) junction in the track and left at the final junction there are jets of smoke you can drive through which restore about 2 thirds of your vehicle's health. Once I realised this the race was quite easy for me.

Yep, got stuck here. Wouldn't be a problem if the camps continued to give scrap. It's literally impossible otherwise.
And just for the people who says it gets better, when a game pulls something like this, no. No it doesn't. It literally proceeds downhill from this point onwards. Regardless of the studio.

I was having huge problems with this until I realised the Harpoon does not work properly in widescreen! This is a BUG, not that I was not following the info above.

Changed to a standard resolution and windowed and I was able to target Stank Gum correctly and took him out easily! Then just changed back to widescreen after the race.

Maybe this is the case for others struggling.
Change resolution to 2560x1440 or 1440x900 etc

Well that was frustrating.... Not fun at all. Any more races like this?

That's the only one, fortunately

I beat it on my third try after realizing that the thunderpoon is amazing

He's actually a really easy boss to take out: it's just that the car handling is just not meant for enclosed areas at ALL and so you are constantly crashing in to everything, and I mean EVERYTING

I finished it on my first try. Be sure to fully upgrade the thunderpoon before entering that race, keep a certain distance to the truck (so you can avoid his mines and his flamethrowers) and don't care about the other cars at all- just SHOOT your rockets asap. That's all, folks!

I've rarely rage quit a game, but after umpteen tries, literally bordering on severe eye strain, this idiotic race did it for me. I went from playing an open world game that pretty much let me approach things the way I wanted to... To some crazy sequence where I have to perform a particular set of moves to be able to proceed with the game? Not fun to me, sorry....

I play games for fun and to be challenged. But this is as far from fun as you can get and it was way more annoying than challenging. Talk about slamming on the brakes to a game.... :steamsad:

I too enjoyed the game, till this point. I tried a few times, with a few different setups for the car. I'm going to have to give the game up. No DLC purchases for me, and I'll probably have to avoid future Warner Brothers games, as they limit the ability of non 'elite' gamers to make it through the entire game.

This is definitely one of the less enjoyable parts of the game. It's quite buggy too. I instinctively bailed out of the car when it received enough damage and the countdown appeared. You can't enter the car nor repair it nor can you pause the game, i.e., access the menu. You have to alt+f4 to restart the mission and the save game takes you right into it opposed to one of the hub locations. Talk about an oversight.

I appreciate the optimization but the game's riddled with ♥♥♥♥ like that. The UI, caption etc. disappear half of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time i play this game.
