V6 is a V8?

Anyone notice that the Magnus Opus has a V8 sound, yet its supposed to be a V6? I lol'd so hard when I realized that the car said it was a V6... Definitely not.

You do realise that's how 'classic' V8's tend to sound right?

The Big Chief sounds pretty much exactly how I'd expected it to... It sounds like a V8 Ford used in their XA-XC model Falcons... The model Max's Interceptor is built upon...

I was paying really close attention to this as well. Being someone who's rebuilt a V8 and would drive out to the dunes where there would be dune buggies, jeeps, and various 4x4 vehicles with open pipes.. a V6 is somewhat different than a V8. you can tell there are two less pistons firing off in the firing order. But the difference isn't enough to dismiss the game. When I heard it I was like... that may or may not be a V6. I haven't heard what the Magnum Opus V8 sounds like but i'm going to assume its more "glug, glug, glug" sound during idle for a big block. at least I'm hoping. It would be cool to have the option to advance the distributor to time the firing down to a nice low tumbling sound during idle. I love that.

'Glug, glug, glug' is one way that it can be described, especially the base V8...

I love that you can actually hear the whine of the super-charger at times too... I reckon they've done fantastically with the engine sounds personally...

For those people having audio cut-outs with engines or various things like hitting with your fists. I've found that pausing and unpausing brings the sound back because it does this with me as well. Hope this helps.

Shift+Tab (Steam overlay) has worked for me on the very few occasions I've had this happen...

a lot of times for me I just let off the gas and hit it again and the sound comes back

I've drive a loud V8 everyday, and I know the difference. Even if you cam a V6, it will never have that sound of a V8. I know that for a fact.

Not true, these are more modern engines, I doubt they would use a modern engine in Mad Max lol.. I also drive a loud V8 everyday, back in the day some of the V6's had a really beefy sound to em. I can mistake a inline 4 pot for a flathead V8 just saying.

I don't own game on pc (yet), have it on ps4, but seems like someone could make a mod to swap the v6 sound with the v8 sound, seems that would be a lot simpler than many other mods games have these days.

Yep, it has the rumble, but not anywhere close to a V8 roar when you punch it.

I stripped my 4 cylinder down to the header and it sounded like a v8 when I floored it...

I don't think the sounds are that far off... a few of the v8's seem to be off but you def notice a diff when you get some of the v8's as compared to the v6

anyways making such a big deal out of the sounds is stupid anyways... especially since it's not a sim... there are much bigger things wrong with the game to complain about

The stupid thing is, when this game is supposed to take place, there was no such thing as a V6, not in cars anyway. There was only a straight 6 and a box 6.

If there's no catalytic converter on the car (and in the world like this there wouldn't be) a v6 will sounds like a v8, remember the exhausts are going to be made from scrap with holes in them which again makes a car sound like it has more grunt than it really does.
Go down to a legal street drag and you'll hear the noise of each car when the owners drop the pipes, heck even a 4cyl sounds beefy..lol

Had the exhaust rust out at the catalytic converter on my old '89 Ford Tempo. Thing sounded like a beast of a car for the 2 weeks I drove it like that. (Tempo had a 2.3L, 100hp 4-cylinder)

Heck, even my buddy that lived almost 3 blocks away said he could hear me start my car and leave my house. Being in high school at the time, we drove my car around everywhere sounding like that - mostly to pi$s people off, but we also thought it was really cool.
