+1 to the 100th power. It's ticky tacky for an already well done PC port, but FOV sliders would've been nice
No it's not, FOV is discerned by the lens that it uses
Thi scan be emulated via software in games, on a camera it's lens, hence why you get edge distortion or fish eye effect
Pulling the camera back just does that, it's a fixed lens, you increase the distance from objects, which means you need to walk that same distance to get the objects
FOV does NOT change the distance at all, teh FOV of degrees of increments is whatr is the actual reference to what one views or interacts on screen
Distance between Objects and Camera is NOT FOV, don't make things up just to suit yourself
I have Go Pros and the FOV is from 120 to 170 ish
You don't pull the camera back at all, you change the Lens

And yes, FoV and camera zoom are obviously different things. Anyone saying different does not suffer fom motion sickness when playing games. FFS it's 2015, when will devs get the picture and start letting us change FoV.
this ^
its what I've been trying to explain. With 3rd person games you don't get an option to widen the degrees of vision, you only get the option to pull the camera further back. With 1st person games we get the option to widen feild of view by simulating it.
Whetehr you're in 3rd person or 1st, it does not matter, A gun in FPS is still the same as a person in 3rd, you still have an object on screen
FOV does not affect either, you're emulating the degree of view, thats all
Learn something about lenses before posting things like whats being posted in here now
Glad you know what FOV is now since your initial post!
FOV is image being displayed, not FPS view
Correct. It is image being displayed. All this commentary about third vs 3rd person view is nonsense. FOV refers to the image as it is displayed for the player - it doesn't matter whether it's 3rd or 1st person view - the amount of image from left to right of screen is what's at issue.
I even posted a YT video which shows the different FOVs for GoPro Cameras
Like you said, nothing to do with 3rd or 1st person view, its the degree of field of view
Nature shows this with hunters and prey
Hunters generally have their eyes in close proximatey, focusing in front, periphial view can be poor
Prey, well generally they have their eyes on the sides of their head, ie fish, why? call it self preservation
Hence the term Fish Eye lens
Yes we all know that FoV doesnt matter if its 1st or 3rd person, that isnt in dispute. What is in dispute is whether or not a 3rd person game has ever provided a real FoV slider like they have done for 1st person. That's all I meant.
You clearly stated this in your original post...

It's obvious you didn't understand what FOV meant at the beginning of this thread. It has nothing to do with first person view. You learn something new everyday! :)
I meant in the context of video games, obviously there is a FoV when ever there is a camera present.
But as I keep saying, I've not played any 3rd person games that have the option of changing FoV, I've only ever seen camera distance sliders. If I'm wrong then please give me an example of a 3rd person game that has this option, as they sometimes have in 1st person perspective games.
