yeah ok bye
Shut up already.
That's just me.
Oh wait, you're under 30, right?
Anyone old enough to remember those movies when they came out will tell you they are far superior in every way.
I'm not saying I didn't like the new movie; it was very good. But mad max 1 is a phenomenal movie, and the second is just so awesome it doesn't even bear thinking about.
I watched the first movie on betamax. THAT'S how old I am. When it first came to video, which wasn't too long after it came out at the cinema to be honest. I was blown away.
The second I watched on VHS if memory serves. I wore out that VHS tape within 6 months.
This is back when movies were still able to surprise you. Going to the cinema wasn't a chore, filled with annoying people, massive prices and ridiculous no smoking policies and other anti-social crap.
Movies were magical back then.
That's why a new star wars movie was never going to recapture the original magic of those first three.
And it's why mad max and mad max 2 will never get a sequel to even rival them.
Of course not. They're outstanding.
I just can't appreciate those stunts and practical effects without a story. Fury Road is just a mess. I'm shocked that it got the reviews that I did but I'm assigning that partly to its feminist overtones in a time of politically correct media outlets.
I disagree. RW was absolutely brilliant, but MM has aged horrendously badly, its only rose tinted specs that make it the unbelievable film in your eyes.
FR was the perfect modern day MM film, sure Hardy is no Gibson, but it just never let up.
And I'm old.
It's all just opinion though, this is mine.
Well, I didn't really hate it, as I was impressed that a film with that much action in it managed to keep me interested untill the end, but it definitely isn't my favourite. I was kind of disappointed in Max not having more input in the story as well. I mean, he has very little scenes by himself. Even when he goes out to blow up the pursuers when the truck gets stuck: everything he does, happens off screen. I mean, really?
Those of you keeping to the film-discussion, thank you =)
As for Max's depiction in Fury Road, surely you understand that he isn't actually Max Rockatansky? His flashbacks bear no resemblance to anything that happened to Max, he's too young, his appearance, manner, bodylanguage and so forth are entirely different to a degree that surpasses the simple change of actor, particularly such a skilled one.
It's another man who heard the story of the Road Warrior, and losing his family/loves/friends/past and blaming himself for it, lost himself - before deciding, in delusion and desperation, that he was named, simply, 'Max'.
Also notable; the original Max Rockatansky was mad, but only in the form of desperate cruelties and selfish nervousness. A coward with a talent for cars. Quite the opposite of this wary but compassionate man, more skilled in killing with his hands than in driving, soft-spoken but intelligent and unquestionably brave.
It's possible, but the character simple doesn't suit, I feel. I'd also expect him to be able to fend for himself a lot better, that child was talented in stealth, bushcraft, and a great shot with the boomerang.
