Griffa Tokens, gotta spend 'em all.. alas.

So.. appearantly you have to spend all the points you have the moment you speak with him.

I'm on my second playthrough and wanted to skip the 'health - food - water' upgrades to make the game a bit more challenging.

I have around 20 tokens and about 12 slots I can upgrade.
But appearantly I cannot leave the upgrade screen untill my points are gone or there is nothing left to upgrade.

This bums me out a bit.

yep, Griffa cares for you and will not let you leave all unupgraded in the big dangerous aussie desert :-)

I found that odd, too, almost like I'd overlooked something.

its weird we should be able to choose to not use them if we dont want to.

Right! I'm also skipping all base upgrades. So no auto-scrap pickup. No offline scrap. No ammo - health - water refills.
At least that's till an option and it doesn't build all the stuff the moment you enter a stronghold.

That's what I did, and no Griffa upgrades except for the first time. Had a blast, game was actually challenging but fair. Armor and brass knuckle upgrades became more meaningful and tangible.

That's what I wanted to do.
But only now do I realise I could have alt+F4-ed outta the game when interacting with Griffa. But then again, corrupted saves an all.

Aw hell, I'll do this run with 25% upgrades then..

This was a bad decision by the game makers. Are there any notifications when you get these tokens so I can spend them right away? At least this way, I could get rid of them and use them on the weaker upgrades.

I know there was a message saying Griffin was in the area but I haven't seen that message in a while. I'm not sure if that was just a tutorial message.

Yeah they show it on sceen once you level up at least.
I don't think they show you when you get one for a pruple dot mission.

I tried to go to Griffa when I had no more than 5 tokens.
Next time I checked after I made that decission my tokens were at 14.
So now I'm playing the game with the three manditory upgrades and that's it.

That sucks. Oh well. I like the mystical mumbo jumo during the Griffa encounters, so I'm going to keep visiting him even if makes the game a little too easy. I'll try to offset that by using the weakest armor.

You could do that.
And my first playthrough I went to Griffa every time.
Was at about 50% of the game when I was done with Griffa.
It's the second playthrough that I wanted to make harder for myself.
I'm also walking around with the first gloves unlock and no wrist upgrades.
I do have Max' iconic Jacket from the start of my second palaythrough though.

Yeah i've noticed it too and i don't want any upgrade except ammo/scrap and other useful ones.
Unfortunately i'll never visit him again unless the game forces me to.

I know what you mean, wanted to do the exact same thing.
But manditory spendation only happens at the start of the game.
I'm 50% into the game with just those first three tokens.
(Scrap - Ammo - Legend. Should have gone for Legend - Weapon durability - Weapon damage)
