Either the camp defenses will start spewing fire at me when I drive up to the intel guy and I destroy them and then the camp.
Or I find the secret entrance by mistake while exploring and I destroy the camp without ever getting the intel.
Yup.
But good to know that no intel stays no intel.
Also some convoy intels are missable. There's no way to see it, it just wount display in logs.
When you see a camp or convoy route, always look around in the imediate area for a purple encounter marker.
If there is no purple marker nearby, there is (probably) no intel to be gathered.
I know that feel.
One more thing, some of those 'Intel encounters' are positioned in the range of the camp snipers.
So always try and take those out with your own Longshot if you plan on stopping close to a camp.
The intel-givers can't get targeted, but you can.
Do you know if intel givers can be killed? If so will they respawn?
I always scan the aren for hostiles and stop the Opus like 20 meters away to be safe, so I don't know if they are mortal and/or respawnable.
Yes and yes.
I've once been attacked by buzzards right before I tried to get intel.
They just rolled over the guy laying on the floor with his bi-noc-u-lars.
Killed them, drove off, drove away and the purple marker was back on the map.
But, fortunately, it doesn't really have any impact on the game one way or the other.
