It's post-Apocalypse, there is no Australia anymore, our world is gone.

The Mad Max universe was made by Australian(s) so yes, it's based in Australia, more specifically the outback. My home country.

The golden gate bridge has two main towers, the bridge in the game has six. It's not the golden gate bridge. From what I can tell there's no bridge like it in the real world.

More people relating things of their country and other common misconceptions. Some dude argued that it was in the US because of the rock colors of the Grand Canyon or some sh!t and that Gastown's junk pile must be in Murika too. Then proceeded to argue that the driving should be just like GTA because he liked that better.

Guys you do know the golden gate is not the only suspension bridge in the world. Here in Melbourne Australia we have two of them, for instance.

NB have a look at which side the steering wheels on the car is.

Did you see fury road? Why was the war rig wheel on wrong side?

"Although Mad Max: Fury Road is set in Australia, the steering wheel is on the left. Manufactured in the Czech Republic where left drive is standard, Tatra trucks are found in both left and right drive in Australia.[6] "
