At its heart all an Archangel is is a particular configuration of the MO. If you have the required upgrades you can make a particular Archangel. That sounds great right?
Well, no. Not really. Because if you look at the upgrades they all, except tyres perhaps, have a very linear progression from the left (worst) to the right (best). Better engine, better harpoon, better armour.
The only real concessions to make here are the ram on the front and armour, because of weight affecting handling speed and acceleration, and the tyres that effect grip on different surfaces.
In light of all that you just stick on the best kit you have available and off you go. The Archangels are entirely redundant at this point unless they are required for a mission of some kind. And the joke is that even during that mission you can then swap away from the Archangel to your better kit. You just need it to trigger the mission start.
This upgrade system was such a great idea they could have done a lot with but they fumbled I think amd streamlined it for the masses.
