What happens if you run out of fuel?

nothing, you cant run out of fuel you only slow to a crawl and cant use boost. this is a car game not a survival mo.

Just use fasttravel & get some fuel at deathrun gas station.

Never happened to me before only that one time where the game wanted you to refil your car...

If you're running out of fuel, you're really doing it wrong. I find so much gas lying around and with the ability to invest in Max's abilities to save on gas as you go, I can either go a long while or I always manage to top off. =/

It's very hard to run out of fuel in this game...

Use your sideburners often and you'll see that you can run out of fuel :x

Not like it really matters, fast travel to a stronghold and you are refilled (if you unlocked the stuff inside it anyway) :p

I tried once, just after getting my first sideburners.
Basically, the Magnum Opus become the Magnum Fartus.
VERY slow. It doesn't stop, but it get so slow that you'll prefer to walk away.
Or, as said, you can pay 500 scraps for a Full.
Or fast travel to a Stronghold/Racing Point

On a side note, I like a lot to have long walks in this game.

you should have a spare fuel can in the back. that's what it's for.
